Hi Guys,

I've got a trip to the UK coming up in early January. I'm going Sydney to London on the Qantas A380 in Business Class but returning on the 747 (QF2).

I have heard that Qantas are in the process of upgrading their 747 fleet to feature the second generation of the Skybed (the 180 degree lie flat version like on the A380).

Does anybody know if the 747 on QF2 has had the refurb yet?

Cheers

Chris

I would imagine the chances are no, as the first of the upgraded birds are going onto the trans-pacific (DFW, LAX-BNE etc) routes. However, you may be lucky, as it is possible that OJU (non-ER) has just returned from Avalon, so may have been upgraded in the process.

Qantas are still selling F on that route, ie.4 classes therefore you will not get a re-furbished 747 AFAIK. The re-furbs remove F seats from zone A and replace with Mark II Skybeds, and replace upstairs Skybeds with Mark II turning the aircraft into 3 class.

3 non-ERs are staying and thus will receive the upgraded interior. Just hope for one of those.

Is there any reason why I am seeing a lot of QF2 in April 2012 coming up as an A380 via Singapore in the awards booking engine? Checked a number of days, and it's the same story. I thought this route when via Bangkok on a 747?

QF2 changes to SYD-SIN-LHR early next year

Great, thanks so much! Couldn't find anything on the QF website about this turning into an A380 service, they only mention the 127/128 changes in the A380 implementation schedule.
