Am arriving on 11:23 am flight (United892) and flying on to Newark with Continental. Have a choice of 1 pm or 3:15, 1pm obviously more attractive but is this just running it too fine for transfer if anything goes wrong or immigration delays.

Hi , its probably touch & go if its going to be enough time to transfer in the 90 mins . In my previous experiences at SFO , they are a lot more efficient & quicker processing thru Customs & Immigration than what LAX can do . On the 2 occasions when i flew QF to SFO , I was landed & out under the hour . in saying that ,at the time of day you arrive on UA892 , there are a few other international flights timetabled to arrive just before you, SQ16 & CA985 plus a couple of AC flights, so it maybe a little busy with C&I. I would probably lean towards leaving until the 3.15 for your connection.

I'd go the 3:15... SFO is certainly a good airport in regards to getting you into the country, with my best effort being 15 minutes from plane to taxi, but all it would take is for the plane to be delayed (either at departure, or enroute thanks to unfavourable winds), checked bags (if taking any) to be delayed in coming out, an over zealous CBP \ TSA officer or even just a longer than expected queue somewhere and your 90 minutes will seem very short.

If it's on the one pnr (ie. linked ticket) then i'd go the short connection allowing for the risk that I miss it and the airline will move me to a later flight.

If it's on different tickets (ie. booked separately), DEFINATELY the 315pm.

If you're not sure what I mean by pnr, then go the 315pm!

You don't have to worry about the AC flights, as they have all cleared CBP in Canada.

I would go the later flight unless all on one PNR.
