Is the Flight Centre low price guarantee worth anything?

I noticed some flights to the USA on travel.com.au. They charge no credit card fee. I had been dealing with a Flight Centre travel consultant and asked her to match it. Her best offer was still around $100 per ticket more and I still had to pay a credit card fee of 1.98%.

Has anyone out there every got a free flight because they could not match.

IME this so called guarantee is nothing but hot air....if you have an email chain perhaps you could forward to the State Manager listed at the bottom of the Guarantee page
 
And I expect that if they thought they were going to be up for a gratis airfare they would beat the quote by a dollar. As previously said, that guarantee is just an effective marketing tool, hardly substantive nor enticing to use Fright Centre.
