Is anyone heading anywhere interesting over Xmas? More interestingly, is anyone holidaying in Australia anywhere or have you decided like me - it's too gawd darn expensive!

Mrs munitalP & I (with another AFFer and his wife) are heading to Shanghai, (Xi'an possibly), Beijing and Harbin for a few weeks in search of blistering cold weather and blistering hot bargains while out shopping (well at least the girls will be) in Beijing.

Your current pic suggests you could need to see a Chinese herbalist to bring back rosy red cheeks.
We are heading for the New Year fireworks in Sydney and hang the expense. Getting together with friends by the Harbour Bridge is good fun.

Surfers paradise at the new Hilton- I really don't want to go to SP but at least the bars should be nice.

After completing a packed DONE4 on December 10th, then flying to Sydney the next week, and possible Brisbane a few days before Christmas, I'm planning a flightless holiday! Relax at the beaches around greater Melbourne (weather permitting), all to warm up for a week of 'work' in coughet and Bangkok in early Feb. I hate my job! :)

Sounds fantastic I did all except Harbin in Mar 2005 I remember the winds were bitterly cold in Beijing and overall a great trip.

Also had 10 members of a close friend family who did all four cities Dec to 2nd week Jan 2009. They said Harbin which was trip down memory lane - they most of the sibling born there and their parents were white Russian who lived in Harbin before migrating to BNE sometime in the 60's.

Most of the ladies went straight out a purchased white feather down quilted over coats with detachable hoods which were well use in Harbin. The stories carved ice structures and activities were wonderful make me wish I like really cold weather - maybe one day. Can't wait to read your TR.

My plans early family get together Dec 11 in SYD, a relaxing by pool and beach with a little bit of shopping and NO sightseeing which we did way too much of last year in coughet 15 - 27 Dec (X one night either side in BBK), back BNE for a friends 40th and then off the Perth for NY eve till 9 Jan.

Flights SYD-BKK FASA and BNE-PER JASA and I thank you guys here, where I learnt ASA are available at cheap rates (last year SYD-BKK was classic fare). Paid DJ PE BNE-SYD and Thia J BKK-HKT.

Brrrr........it's so cold in Beijing at that time of the year, it was -17 on the Great Wall when we were there a few January's ago! On Boxing day we head off to Miami and Orlando for a couple of weeks.

I prefer not to take leave during that period but my current "Master Client" has a philosophy of a complete closedown for three weeks.:( 23[SUP]rd[/SUP]-15[SUP]th[/SUP]

Due to support requirements I will be working one of those weeks, but otherwise will be:

  • Re-Configuring/re-wiring the household entertainment systems.
  • Taking an overnight trip MEL-xSYD-PER vv on DJ PE/Business late December.
  • considering an Flounge run in the new year.

Will be flying BNE-MEL on Xmas day, then headin' to the country (insert hayseed chewin' smiley.........)

Hanging around the Sunny Coast and probably do a days fishing or maybe even 2...

Might do a day trip to Sydney to Taronga Zoo with the girls but not planned yet..

I'll see the folks in CBR and then maybe jet off somewhere exotic.

Any suggestions guys?

The opposite of seeking the cold, we'll be heading to OLP - in a low level, slow "craft" - for a few days around new year. Time to sell a house and also visiting the in laws. So 45+ for me.

Taking forced leave from 16th to 5th
Doing a quick trip to HK, China - Guangzhou, Guilin, and a few J-savers out of TPE as has been a low flying year.
Routing SYD-SIN-HKG(SQ)-CAN(Rail)-WUH(HighSpeedRail)-KWL(CZ)-HFE-TPE(MU)-HKG-BKK-HKG-TPE-HKG-SYD(CX)

Also have just booked a AASA in late-Jan for the double SC to HKG. Still working out how I get back on that.

I will be spending 16 nights (including Christmas and New Year) on this:
Radiance of the Seas - Royal Caribbean International

Going to these ports of call:
Milford Sound, New Zealand; Doubtful Sound, New Zealand; Dusky Sound, New Zealand; Dunedin, New Zealand; Akaroa, New Zealand; Wellington, New Zealand; Napier, New Zealand; Volcanic White Island, New Zealand; Tauranga, New Zealand; Auckland, New Zealand; Bay of Islands, New Zealand;

This will be my third cruise (since 2007 it has become a tradition to do one every second Christmas - and we usually take 5 or 6 cabins). I can't wait!

No flying for me. I only have another 4 flights left before the end of the year :)

Firstly, I am not a ho. :)

Secondly, to answer your question, not much. Not getting away - mainly have no money to do so (plenty of points... might put in a random PC stay just to get away). In theory, probably should be working to finish my thesis - "deadline" for submission is next March...

Mrs NM has me scheduled for bathroom renovations, so the furtherest I will be travelling is to the bathroom supply shop and the hardware store, neither trips producing status credits or EQPs

Relaxing by the pool, eating/drinking too much. Occasionally interspersed with a few days work ;) No relatives with us this year ( we usually have visitors) as they are all in the UK.
Have plans to re-develop and paint my study but will probably procrastinate like I usually do :o

Off to Surfers Paradise (Broadbeach) for 4 days visit friends, drink, eat out and enjoy, then jet back home to FNQ 28th Dec.
