Christmas Card Time At Work

A genuine 'thanks' goes helluva long way in my book.

I'm sure it does - but for the majority of my blokes, they couldn't give a rats cough for a card, note or words!

I've tried all different kinds of karma, new aged things....I think it simply comes down to a fact that not everyone has turned into a new aged "METRO" male......my business is involved in the building part of the mining industry, so we're still a male majority firm.

I'm, sure as with everything else in life, it's a kind of different strokes for different folks kind of thing. But, I can tell you that the wife's & girlfriend's....& probably the kids of my employees are happy to finally receive (in most cases) the X-mas bonus!

We do other things during the year for the blokes......I think, X-mas should be for the whole family and I've found the gift card to be one way to deliver this.

Personally I think a Gift card is a great idea for a gift at Christmas.

Where I work we get nothing from the company and in IT we buy a gift for <$15 and then play a game to see who gets stuck with the lamest gifts.

I used to love working at this company where every year the boss would buy us all a Christmas Hamper + bottle of spirits of our choice + ham. From memory the most employees we had at any time was ~11 so it makes it a lot easier to buy something expensive.

We ordered the gift cards and paid for them on a favourite point and a half credit card through Woolworths as we decided their retail offering has something for everyone across Australia. Because the value was over $8,000 you can get a 5% discount on the lot by applying for that concession on-line.
You have to watch out for that $300 Tax rule that your tax accountant would advise you about.

Yes Bloody FBT...!

The company I work for this year instead of sending cards/gifts to staff and clients has made a donation to charity.

I think it's a great thing as I really don't need another bottle of spirits, or woolies card to buy my groceries, but I really value knowing we as a collective are helping someone in need.
We already schmooze clients enough during the year, staff are well looked after throughout the year - so all appreciate this notion.
