Planning a trip to US in March 2012. Request suggestions on best flights/deals etc. from Brisbane to either New York or Miami. Qantas FF bronze.

Not very skilled at searching online and or booking - thought I would ask for some assistance through this forum.

Wanting to celebrate 50th B'Day in US and only have 3 weeks leave, trying to get best value for money etc. flexible with destination...

Date ranges?

depart feb 29 (arr JFK)
return march 20 (depart MIA)

$1422 on QF (AA MIA-LAX)

use matrix.itasoftware.com

separate destinations by a comma (ie: NYC, MIA)

select flights you like if you find a good costing (search 2 days either side). then go and book with the carrier.

You should be able to do a little better than $3200 for 2 people. Searching on Qantas today, Brisbane - New York return is $1422 per person for depart 4/3/12 and return 17/3/12 - QF15 BNE to LAX, QF107 LAX to JFK, return QF108 to LAX and QF16 to BNE. Similar prices seem to be available on most days.

Return flights to Miami are available for $1432 per person. These seem to be available on a more limited choice of days.

In my view planning the trip is a large part of the fun. I would encourage you to get online and explore the options. Qantas.com.au is a good start, but to check out the other options try zuji, expedia or webjet.

If I may comment, New York or Miami is a very diverse pair of optional destinations. I love New York, but have only seen Miami from the air and the airport changing planes. Very different experiences and very different weather in March.

I also celebrated my 50th in US 4 years ago. I spent it in San Francisco, definitely my favourite US city.
