Does anyone know what the MCT is for CX-->JL in TPE is?

Gee, I wonder to which booking this relates ;)

Where's Kiwi Flyer when you need him?

On the outbound JL you leave at 10.00am local, why time does your flight arrive on CX. You have no protection, so I hope you left 2 hours. Although they are both OW and I would hope both leave from/arrive at the same terminal, you don't want the CX to be running late....

Can you ring AA and advise them that you are connecting and put the details of the CX flight in as information ?

For those reading quizzically, v8Statesman sent me a copy of his AA ticket ex-TPE yesterday, so I was forewarned. He flies into TPE on the return part of a CX TPE/HKG/PER ticket, thus I know he has no protection

Quietly, I think he wanted me to be jealous ... and I am.

90 mins is the MCT for T1 where CX is to T2 where JAL operate from.

An AA ticket ext-TPE? Have done plenty of CX tickets but never AA

I did an MU (T2) to CX (T1) in December. Was carry-on only but didn't try transfer as wanted an earlier flight.
TPE immigration is generally pretty efficient and then an external monorail connects T1 and T2.
I was rebooked on a service that gave me a 115min connection, but the MU plane was 20 mins late, I spent 10min on the phone and had 20min in the lounge.

So I suspect anything above 90min should be ok.

v8Statesman has just returned from his first ex-TPE AA ticket (J), very successfully - scored him Plat again :)

Very good price and very good time to buy with the strength of the AUD.

Did I mention I was jealous

Cheers for that. CX just informed me of a time change. My connection time dropped from 85 mins to 60. That is the first flight of the day for CX, so I think I'll have to fly in the night before now.

Yes, was a great trip. So much so, I'm doing it again!

You are right Lindsay. My AA ticket is several hundred dollars cheaper this time thanks to the strong AUD against the USD and that ex TPE AA bill in USD (with a TWD equivalent). However since DEC, the AUD against the TWD has dropped 0.3% so the CX ticket is marginally higher.

Staying at the Novotel Taipei Airport in 7 days en route to Niseko, so will let you know how it is.
The Novotel TPE and a ex TPE J fare was cheaper than the Novotel HKG and a Y fare!

Airport novotel is good. Search the forum for info about it.

I need to look back on my records but in December 2009 I had ~90 minutes between a T1 to T2 connection (CX to KL) and made it with plenty of time to spare. At the time I did not have any checked luggage as it was waiting for me in BKK.

And yes I am a fan of Novotel at the airport. I know they have a shuttle but I was not sure of the times and got a taxi to/from airport and it was only ~100 TWD each way. Just make sure the driver understands the right terminal.

The shuttle runs half hourly. Murphy says when you finish check-out, it will have just left.
Accor Club status is very useful at this hotel.

Happy wandering

I can get Tpe-Mel in J for justbover A$2k but AA is more than double.

It is. So it would be nice if a moderator deleted this thread ;-)

Very hard to do, now that the information is public knowledge. It's not as if ex-TPE AA tickets haven't been discussed - you are one of the fortunate ones to have been able to utilise them

I've never seen them talked about. I stumbled across it through my Internet trawling and just trying different sites from different locations

Indeed, we have a growing community of members enjoying the TPE HIX or Novotel for short stays over the last few years!
