A few quick questions:

We are flying Sydney to Rome this Friday, SYD-LHR-FCO. The flights are all on the same QF booking.

We have about 4 hours layover at LHR before we board the code shared flight (BA/QF) to Rome. I believe it involves a terminal change eg arriving T3 and departing T5.

Do we have to clear customs in LHR? If not, how does the terminal transfer take place? Can I use the BA lounge in T5?

Thanks in advance. (I haven't been to LHR for many years).

What class of service are you on (Biz/Eco) and do you have any status with Qantas/BA? Lounge access is only for Biz/First and Oneworld Emerald/Silver.

Transit is all airside so no need for customs - follow the signs for flight connections and get the bus.

follow the purple signs for transfer. it's really easy. you get on a bus that will take you from t3 to t5. as mentioned, no need for customs. you'll get the security scanning treatment and they make you take iPads, computers, belts, shoes out.

Thanks so much for the response. I am only QP bronze & economy seat.

So even though it's a QF flt number, there's no common man access to the BA lounge? Is there any access to BA lounges for non platinum etc flyers ?

So you are Qantas Club members? Should be fine for access at T5:

QF Club members plus 1 guest travelling together on any BA or QF operated flight LHR to: BKK, HKG, MEL, SIN or SYD
QF Club members plus 1 guest arriving together on any BA or QF operated flight from BKK, HKG, MEL, SIN or SYD and through connecting at LHR to any BA operated flight

You are a walking encyclopedia! Many thx.

Just remember stuff that other people have sourced.
Be braced to be knocked back by the BA lounge dragons - make sure you take your QP card(s) with you and show them the inbound connecting BP and outbound.

Will do.

"Lounge dragons" lol. Sounds appropriate, just like those here in Oz.
