QF520 Syd - Bne

I've travelled this route many times and QF520 has allways been in a 767 and was still when I made my latest booking but now 3 weeks out and trying to do seat allocations from the flight I notice it is now in a 737-800.

Anyone know the reason for this change ??

Perhaps the loads for an earlier/later flight are higher.

Can't help you with this particular change but it is not uncommon for my bookings (which some are 6 months in advance) to have equipment changes.

I generally try to choose flights with 767 and have had them changed to first a 738 and then a 734 months out. The saddest part about it is when an aircraft type changes I can no longer display the seat map to select a seat and need to call reservations/seating to check seats for me.

This was the same in my case however it was telling me that seat allocation was not available however I could state my preferance ie window or aisle. Once this preferance was completed my booking showed me seats the system allocated then I could go in and change them ??

Once an aircraft has been substituted I can never go in and allocate seats and it if has gone from a 767 to a 738 or 734 then I have no pre-allocation. My only option is to call customer service.

Obviously Qantas feels this glitch is not important enough and only has time to find more ways to tweak the booking engine to rip-off people.

Unrelated to OP, but I just booked some flights for $3.25/SC domestic. So you can get good deals sometimes
