Does anyone have a picture of the actual slope of the Mk1 Skybed? (In particular the 333)Google doesn't really have the greatest selection. I am prepping myself to deal with the slope, so would like to see what it is like without it being enhanced.

The simplest solution I have found to being able to sleep on the Mk1 skybed comes in 3 steps:

1. Drink. Alcohol. Lots
2. Put on the pyjamas. You'd be surprised how much of a better sleep you get wearing them instead of jeans.
3. Don't lay the bed out completely straight. Leave it so that it has a bit of a "z" shaped kink in it. This gives you something to hook your butt into and stops you sliding down and ending up sitting in the foot rest.

This works for me :D

I normally cannot proceed beyond Step 1

I woke up once with the seat still almost in upright position... after 9 hours of flying

I don't mind the slope.

My technique is basically configure the length of the seat so that your default position is to slide down onto the foot rest (i.e. the foot rest will stop you). So make the seat go fully flat, then use the foot rest retract / deploy function to change the "length" of the bed to suit your needs. Your head doesn't need to be at the top of the seat - that's what pillows are for.

If you rest with your feet on the foot rest, you can't slide down any further unless you typically tend to sleep in a foetal position. If you sleep on your back, it shouldn't be that bad at all.

Wearing the PJs definitely helps for comfort (not gripping, but that's not the point).

awilcockson's suggestion of creating a slight "Z" shape in the bed is a fascinating one, actually.

I sleep on my side, cannot sleep on my back. The first time I tried your method and I woke up curled in a ball down in the footwell. Not at all comfortable.

I can't take all the credit, it was suggested to me by someone a couple of years ago, and I find it works pretty well.

I found this was the only way I could get some sleep, entirely by accident (said accident may have been alcoholically assisted). Think of the seat more as a "SkyChaiseLongue" rather than a "SkyBed"..

Hmm, put it into "Dreamtime" seat mode - interesting idea.

Fortunately, the Skybed MkI seems to have been designed for me and I can sleep perfectly well with it flat, if somewhat sloped.

Perfect length, Put the pillow under the head, blanket across the bod, and beltup across the blanket .... zzzzz

(I sleep just was well in a MK II FWIW)

COmpletely agree with this method. Especially number 1, and also the small kink really reduces sliding down the sky slope.....

If the flight isn't full - extra blankets to prop up your feet also works well. I used 3 last time for my legs.

Otherwise leaving the kink can help.

+1 on number 1.
