Hi,
Friends flying from Syd to the US with UA had their domestic connection in LAX cancelled due to weather(this was also with UA and on same booking ref) they had pay for their hotel overnight at LAX then UA flew them to their destination the next day.
My question is how to learn from this!Would they have received better treatment on a QF/AA booking? (e.g. food or accom voucher?) I know winter weather is unpredictable....
Thanks

Some airlines provide accomodation to their top elites even for weather delays.. pretty sure UA does for its 1K's...

No entitlement exists fo course.. so I imagine one would have to check what each airline does...

Thanks trooper, just wondering what others have experienced. Some airlines seem to look after their PAX better than others!

Well... I wouldn't expect airlines to take a hit accomodating plane loads of folks when weather shuts things down...

(and I still don't understand why airlines were expected to take such a hit when those volcanoes erupted either)

..but if UA looks after those who fly 100,000 miles a year with them I'd suggest that was a good idea from a business perspective!

Travel Insurance should help out here, shouldn't it?
