Qantas Platinum to Platinum One SC issue

Love you take on it and agree with the perks however I am not really striving for P1, I am just ticked that their website said one thing and then after the upgrade said another. I agree that the total number of SC's has always been 3600 (found out after I checked after the website upgrade) and so happy to abide by that however do not like it when you call a company on something and they won't admit the error. Ethically it does not sit well with me and I do not do business that way nor do my customers expect anything less then my keeping to my word. Anyway, see you around the club!

I've never seen it show Platinum One at all. and prior to January I was past Platinum heading to Extra benefits according to the site. Are you sure you didn't misread it?

10 hours in the air for 40SC? Must not be on a QF ticket then as that should be higher even in Y. Mine usually hit the 80 mark at 10 hours.

Not at all I'm afraid:

If you get a red edeal thingy then all you get is 20 SC's each way. 5+ hours out, just over 4 back and there's your 10 hours.
Flexi saver and above get 40 each way.

Even a screen shot, again who does this or would think to. Well now I will but I guess it is a live and learn sort of exercise. Good old JT, I prefer him to the new announcer but thats just my never to be humbled opinion! I will never strive to reach a new level but see it more as a lessening of the discomfort for all the travel I do. Thanks for your weigh in!

A few weeks ago I saw something on the Big W website that I thought was odd. I continued with my transaction and later sent an email, the proof was in the screenshots and I received a $7 voucher in the mail. Small change, but it was my change, not theirs.

Whenever you see something that doesn’t quite add up and you’re going to take advantage of it (and not necessarily in a bad way), it’s good to have proof when things go pear shaped.

As an addendum, I think perhaps QF weren’t trying to imply you were lying, but wanted to see what you saw so they could find the problem. It’s hard for them to just take your word that you saw it but not have the proof.

Thanks for reminding me samh004. Back in December after I passed the 2100 SC mark I took a screen shot of my summary page because there appeared to be an anomaly with the old 2100 SC's for partner gold and the new 2400 SC for additional benefits. It is covered in another thread on AFF. Anyway the screenshot shows that on December 12, 2011, I had passed 2100 SC's, but there was no mention of additional benefits at 2400 SC's.

And that was an anomaly that has been fixed. There is also no mention of P1 @2400 SC there. Below 2100SC my member summary did not say P1@2400 SC at any stage in the last 12 months and I looked weekly so I would have noticed.

I would suggest the OP is the only person who had this (not to doubt their word) unless someone else pipes up.

Hi DaveP and welcome aboard! I always take screen shots of important things like credit card applications that give bonus points or double status credit promotions to say I have registered. I haven't needed them yet but would be good to have in cases like this.

Just got home and checked my home PC and took this screenshot on 3rd October 2011.

Minus 140k odd QF points there Tony (rather fast)...Sep/Dec...

Scarier than that! I actually "spent" 382,000 points on upgrades and award seats from Sept 30 to December 9th!!!! Good job we had the QF 91st birthday double points bonus in November and December!! :)

Happy to be on board, thank you!
Yes, I have now begun the same exercise and have created to folders on my laptop for these sorts of things. I guess I can chalk it up to who knew I would need it until I needed it!
Anyway, thanks for the input!

Hi Throne,

Thanks for this! It really helps as it may just be an isolated incident on my end. At least this helps me lose some of the negative feelings towards Qantas which were really irritating! Maybe their IT guys just don't like Mac's! Anyway, in all sincerity thank you for this. I appreciate it more then you know.

Sincerely,

Dave

Yes I agree with you. Normally I book full flex for scheduling reasons that change more times then I care to admit and you are correct.

I also manage to get flexi's a lot of the time with 40 points. However, I treat the company's money as my own as:
a) I am responsible for the bottom line and over the year the savings on BFOD vs flexi are substantial
b) Many people from my company fly these routes regularly and it sends a signal when it's seen that I fly Y domestic not J

Therefore I will continue to put up with low SC's

That is very admirable and I too treat the company money as my own. When possible I fly BFOD however my clients, projects and customers must also come first as without them my bottom line will be a beautiful 0! Easy to balance on the sheets but tough to pay the employees who depend on me with!
I fully agree with your stance in Y vs J domestic. My policy is 7 and 7. Over 7 hours and return under 7 days the J is ok. Otherwise no.

Interesting policy - so on that basis when I was asked to fly SYD-PIT at 24 hours notice then worked 18 hour days for three weeks it would be whY back?

Personally for me between 3 and 7 hours it is about frequency - regular mid haul trips for me should equate to J. Occasional mid haul (like my trip to NZ this week) is fine.

Hey Dave make sure you take your camera when you visit loch ness ...lol

As others have posted I think you have misunderstood the difference between making platinum one level and gaining extra platinum privileges at 2400SC.
If you expect to automatically click over to Platinum One when you reach 3600 with a minimum of 2700 on Qantas, you'd be mistaken. I have actually reached Platinum one level 2 weeks ago and I am still waiting for it to be recognised. I have almost 4000SC's this year. I called Qantas FF and was told that they do the Platinum One upgrades every few weeks and I should see it before the end of this month, which is big of them considering I am in London right now and due to fly home in a few days.

QF should have got this sorted by now. P1 is supposed to be a very "exclusive" level for QF's most frequent flyers but the process of "elevation" to this level seems to be poor. It took over a week and two calls for me, and even then I did not receive the promised welcome call explaining P1 from QF.

Having said that I have been more than pleased with the P1 team and benefits since qualifying.
