Hi i have booked (solo traveller) to stay in bangkok between thursday 24 October and sunday 29 october 29. 3 nights and 4 days.

my questions are

I figure i should stay somewhere near the skytrain and the other train, in bangkok. any suggestions of where to stay? Ii want to do a half day tour on friday morning, and on the last day on the sunday i thought i would take a full day tour on the river kwai.

Other then that i will be going shopping

thanks in advance.

Bangkok is one of those cities where hotels come in great numbers, at even better prices and always have excellent hospitality - so you will be having a hard time making a decision given so many properties are great.

Anyway, any budget in mind? hotel status? preferences?

I know there are so many, so i even if i knew the area i should stay in that would be fine, !!!

budget probably mid range, less then $70 a night. i don't need a 4 or 5 star.

i just need and want it to have wi fi available, close to the stations and where i can get from the airport to the hotel. close to all the famous shopping malls etc.

If you have PC points you can stay at the Holiday Inn Bangkok for the equivalent of $30 (4*)

I usually stay at S Sukhumvit Suites. Right at Asoke junction.
Asoke Skytrain station and Sukhumvit Subway station are both within a few minute's walk.

If you want to be close to the big shopping malls (Siam Paragon, Central World, MBK etc) try Novotel Siam Square.

Four Points by Sheraton Sukhumvit can have rates in the 2600BHT mark. Less than a year old, nice modern rooms, close to the station if 5 minutes walk is OK with you. It's probably going to be my new haunt of Bangkok, after a few years of enjoying the Le Meridien Bangkok.
