Paying a citibank credit card

Many banks BPAY times are in fact 6PM or later for cutoff for same day processing, for instance NAB is 6.30 while which bank is much earlier at 3 or 3.30!

Westpac until recently was 5:00 eastern time. recently, moved to 6:00. Daylight saving time, of course.

If you do BPay early your bank only gets to use your money for one day. Go late on a Friday and that would put a big smile on your bankers face!

I pay via Bpay. Any limit on the maximum amount you can Bpay is imposed by your paying bank and not Citi. My CBA Bpay limit is $100K per day and I have paid large Citi CC bills in one transaction using it.

Ok thanks...i've just hit 150k points of the 250k cap. in 2 months. just wondering whether the reward points just STOP or if it shapes to $1=1

Back when the annual limit was 80k it definitely stopped earning at all once you reached that point. I very strongly suspect its the same for the 250K cap as all that was changed was the cap, I don't recall reading anything saying you keep earning but at a lower rate. The T&Cs will answer this.

For whatever reason, Westpac limit certain biller codes to transaction limits. The numbers seem mysterious

Many banks BPAY times are in fact 6PM or later for cutoff for same day processing, for instance NAB is 6.30 while which bank is much earlier at 3 or 3.30!
Not sure which "which bank" you mean. But the usual "which bank" shows the following text on their BPAY input screen: "Please note: Whilst the money will be debited from your account instantly, bill payments performed after 6pm Sydney time on a business day, weekend or public/bank holiday, will be processed the following business day."

I use a citibusiness gold card and bank with the NAB. I have a substantial bill coming up so I want to put my account 30k into credit by Monday. Will I run up against an 10k a day bpay limit imposed by either citi or the NAB? Can I ring either/both and request an increase in the biller limit?

More importantly, will I earn points on the in-credit portion of my bill, or only up to the $13,000 credit limit?

If I can't use my citi card, would my new Jetstar Platnium card be a better option? Are there any bpay biller limits or points earn limits to be aware of?

It will put your account Into credit if it hits before the large charge, however you only get points on the transaction that utilizes the credit portion of your limit

Eg: 10k limit, 15k transaction
If you bpay 5k early u will be 15k in credit, however you will only get 10k points as that represents the credit line that you are using

I've received the points in this scenario, so has a friend of mine. I also called them to ask prior to being in credit and they agreed that I irrespective I would earn points.

Slightly OT; I have been preloading my Citibank signature card via Bpay to pay my tax. Is there a rewards points cap on the Citibank Signature card?

in my experience, yes you will hit a 10k bpay per day limit with NAB - you can have this changed but for me that was a drama, and then i still couldn't do individual bpay transactions of over 10k

if you will have the need to do this in the future, then i suggest you setup a citibank ultimate saver account and link it with internet banking. there is no monthly account keeping fee (well wasn't when i signed up).

then you get a citi BSB and account number, you can EFT money into it (better than - what can sometimes be described as - the bpay hole) .... and transfer to the cc when you need to top up the available credit

i've had citi call me when i've put said cc account into credit, telling me i wont get points and i'm not meant to be using the card like that .... you are not meant to put through any more than your credit limit in 24 hours .... this was the overseas call centre through ... and i have still managed to always get my points when replenishing from savings account.

anyway food for though

Citi have been allowing points from their credit cards being in credit.
If your limit is 13k on your card and you have to pay a $30k or more bill you can either start 2 days early if your BPay limit is 10k or call your bank to raise your BPay limit for the day.

and to get around short term problem, you should be able to bpay 10k each day between now and friday - todays bpay might not arrive until friday but you should be able to send it now

in my experience a friday night bpay from NAB (i always try and do before 4:30pm) will be on citi card on sat
