Just curious as to what people see as the better lounge to spend a few hours, before departing on QF 12.

I found the T4 Flagship lounge bigger, more comfortable, and had better internet.

If I have the choice, I would using T4 Flagship Lounge. But you can only get to T4 if you are arriving on an AA flight into T4, then use T4 lounge and catch the airside bus over to TBIT around 30 mins before scheduled boarding time.

Hmm, looks like I am stuck with the OW TBIT F, hopefully some what less of a Zoo than the J Lounge :(

T4 Flagship is not that impressive as a lounge....sounds like it's better than TBIT (never used TBIT, only T4 FS) but, it's nothing like a SYD or MEL Flounge. IMO even BA T3 & T5 Flounges are better

Next year LAX gets a new QF Flounge similar to SYD/MEL:D

Much needed addition to TBIT it will be, has their been a completion date ear marked for the new F lounge?

According to the LAWA.org site the TBIT reconstruction is now 3-4 months behind schedule.
The TBIT west gates were to be opened December 12 2012 in their March update.
Now TBit west gates scheduled to open in March 2013 but no specific date.
Lounge would be later than this one would expect.

My personal experience of TBIT OW F lounge is that it is a sh*thole. Others may have a different view. Fortunately I only get to use it a couple of times a year at worst. (Never at all if I can use DFW.)

I went to both last Weds night. Wifi better in T4, less crowded in T4, but better food & champagne in TBIT. Although I do love the Stacy's Cinnamon & sugar pita chips available in the evenings in T4. Better snack size than what I bought at Super Target in Atlanta. :p

I've been there a few times, and still prefer it to sitting out in the terminals.

If departing TBIT on QF, you are not supposed to be able to access T4 unless arriving on an AA flight.

I will always endeavor to employ T4 before heading over to TBIT about 90 minute before scheduled departure. Once in the TBIT F/L I might briefly tarry while I consume one or two sips of French bubbly and nibble some cheese before heading off to the gate.

These days I walk outside and re-clear security at TBIT as it's generally quicker to the F/L doing that than taking the Bus (since it loops right around before depositing one at the very North end from where it's still a good 10 minutes). In fact the departures level walking distance from T4 FL to the TBIT FL is possibly less than that which one need to navigate when using the bus.
