I regularly fly to MEL from CBR for the weekend but this is the first time that I've seen it this crazy. There are no Y seats on QF after the 14:00 flight for the start of the Queen's Birthday long weekend.

Also, for some reason, they're not operating QF 821 which departs at 20:45, which might explain things a little. Not sure why though.

You’d think they’d try cut services elsewhere to put more on for this abnormally high demand?

A380 domestic ops anyone? :p

Swap a couple for 767's would help a bit.

Sent from my Telstra iPhone using the Australian Frequent Flyer application.

The "Premium" boarding queues would be interesting to see for these flights.

Friday afternoon/evening is already a peak time. Friday afternoon/evening at the start of a long weekend (for most of the country) they probably don't have a lot of spare capacity.

The CBR routes are fascinating to fly on you can be on a 763 one day but the next a Q400, same time and flight! All thanks to the government.

QF doesn't operate priority boarding at CBR. What's also interesting is that for flights ex-CBR there's only one FA scanning BPs, but ex-MEL there's always two.

Isn't there only one spot at the gate for the FAs to scan BPs? I don't remember.

I regularly fly CBR-ADL on the direct evening flight (QF737) - Q are that confident on their loads for QF737 Wed-Fri that they don't allocate any seats to discount economy. I'm unfortunately subject to 'the cheapest fare QF/VA' policy in my office so getting this direct flight home - even has far out as October - is becoming extremely difficult.
(Different discussion, but the VA direct flight half hour later on the E190 is $250 cheaper for the same day in Oct - just crazy!).

That's it... all Y fares after 1400 this Fri has sold out and absolutely no tickets left at all after the 1500 flight. Certainly going to be interesting this Friday.

And similar story on DJ too

I wonder if the freezing overnight temperature has anything to do with it?

Is anyone able to see any N fares for the QF737 flight after about January next year? It and the QF819 / QF701 are the only two CBR-ADL flights all day that don't have the cheapest fare available.
