Hi all
As I posted on facebook I had a bit of a realisation yesterday that I might actually hit P1  until I found I was actually 200 QF SCs short
As it stands I have 2,380 SCs currently of which 1260 are on QF. My forecast travel is below:
Note for the dom legs syd-mel means syd-mel-syd. Int'l just the whole trip is shown
That will leave me (with a 30 Sep year end) 200 SCs short of P1.
I am wondering if in the midst of that there is a reasonable way to get the 200 extra required. I am not points rich at the moment.
The rationale for chasing P1 is [-]two[/-] three fold:
- I need three J seats OZ-UK next year and being P1 would avoid the need to book at T-355 given the potential to release revenue seats for awards on the days(ish) I want. It would also save points as I would not have to have a partner award which looked around 60K more expensive.
- I do a lot of DOM travel (not as much as some here) and being able to snag the front row of whY would be a boon - currently on 37 DOM segments year to date
- Also doing DOM travel in whY I would be hoping for more OpUps - although this I realise is not that likely.
If only the DBL SC promo had kicked in until July this would be a moot point
I am not interested in the other stuff as given I do most of my flights SYD-domestic-SYD irregular Ops are a low concern. Special events would be nice but as I don't expect this to be a recurrent thing (if you took out the DBL SCs I would be well off) then I am not really factoring them in.
I just had a quick look at a JASA SYD-MEL-BNE-SYD (online it was a overnight thing but I guess I could do it in a day and book separate awards) and that was 56K points and $256 but of course only nets 120SCs. Something like SYD-MEL-ASP-BNE-SYD would get 220 - but I haven't looked at the cost of that. I would be happy spending say 60K points and $200 but as you can see from the above travel overnights away would be less than popular at home.
