Hi there,

Can some one post\link the seat allocation that tells of the good and bad seats please?
I have been in 3F(had and felt I needed both seats for stuff) twice and would love the curtained off area but if I have choice can I have some advice on seats to pick?
ie window better, left or right side better?
This was the seat with the cupboard\toilet behind it..loud engine noise on way out, quiet on way back...go figure?
Yes it was 2/3/2. http://www.seatguru.com/airlines/Virgin_Australia/Virgin_Australia_Boeing_777-300ER.php
It will be the same plane I figure with the same seat configuration unless it's changed from November?

Regards

What aircraft are you flying on? What route at what time of the day (this may assist in deciding which side of the a/c to sit on, but of course it may not too depending on what runway/direction you take off from)?

There's only 2 rows on the 737's, and there's 2 different configurations on the A330 (then there's other smaller jets they're putting J into as well).

737's only have rows 1 and 2...

Seatguru.com shows you the seat layout for a given flight and reccomends the best seats and kits the drawbacks to bad ones...

Seat Guru has very little info on the VA J seats as they're quite new. Having flown both A330's and the 738 in J, there are good and bad seats, but SG doesn't list them.

I like the curtained area (row 5) if it's available and your not sharing it with someone you don't know. Can be a little noisy if the bar is busy. Alternately if traveling alone, I prefer an aisle seat on either of the 2 seat sides.
The aircraft is often 2,3,2 config in business. So prefer the aisle so
I don't have to step over the other person. Aisle 1 is good if you like to chat with the hostees...

Row 4 is often noisy and near the toilets on the Non boarding side of the aircraft (H &K).

Hope that helps....

Oh while I'm at it any chance, anyone around that can give me LOUNGE access as a guest?

I assumed the OP was talking about the VA international fleet as they mentioned the curtained off row 5. ? Seat guru has a bit of info for these flights ...

I DO NOT AND WILL NO HAVE ACCESS ON TICKET ;)
Please don't say I do, as I don't!
(should I put it out there on separate thread?
If you're in J you get lounge access at the Air New Zealand lounge in AU and the Virgin Lounge in T3 LAX (which is a hole).

There is no row 6 on the 777. You want row 5 without a doubt, but they're usually reserved for Elites until check-in. You don't mention if you're leaving from MEL, SYD or BNE (i'll assume MEL as you say tomorrow morning) a quick look shows row 5 on the MEL-LAX flight has the middle three seats empty as well as 5K.

This is the seat map for VA11 on 19JUN:

Thanks folks Seatguru did the trick again have bookmarked it!
mmmm Now I think I want 2A or 3C as the seat...see how it goes.

Edit: Hey extra access drewbles P = empty...gee I don't want 1K as per seatguru?
So ask for ROW 5...have been allocated 4G but got to move to 3K in the past.
2HK would be good if not taken?

See the seat map I posted, there is no B on the 777 in business (just A/C/D/F/G/H/K). The map above key is: X = Blocked seat, solid blue = allocated, P on the seat = premium allocation (for elites - preselection) and a white seat = available for anyone to select.

If you're yet to select a seat, the only open is 1H. The rest can be allocated at the airport by the check-in staff (or a call to the Velocity desk if you're a Platinum/Gold FF).

Enjoy the flight regardless, VA J is nice:)

Just did 5H last night on my first VA intl J flight. I will do up a trip report, but basically i got zero sleep because of 4 middle aged males who talked loudly for most of the trip at the bar! I was furious, even asking the FA to ask them to talk more quietly. So, row 5 suffers from noise. But it is a great little area, with the curtains.
