BMI to leave * alliance in two weeks

QF doesn’t match and most programs don’t poach from partners, but I’m not sure what agreement BA and QF have in regards to their different bases. Perhaps they will match if you move to SWP, but not heard of it being done before.

There may be some differences, as BA don't allow members residing in SWP, and if you move from UK (or another world area) to Australia (or SWP), BA will terminate your executive club membership and you need to join QFF. I guess edison wants to know if status is transferred during this process.

I have used a friends UK address and also have 25 months of Oneworld emerald now with BA Exec club, matched from BMI. I will still be crediting to my QF Gold card and will use that when flying jetstar for lounge access, but I do plan on flashing to oneworld emerald to access F lounges on oneworld (no jetstar i know) despite having the QF card in the system.

Now the question is: Can I get QFF Platinum as a result of BA Gold, if I claim to move house from UK to Australia as BA does not allow SWP addresses? The only reason I want QFF Platinum is for lounge access for JQ and QF code shares with FJ etc. Would they give 2 years of Platinum? Or I should just wait at start of 2014 to apply for it?
 That may just be asking for too much. ;)

Qantas has been known not to comp Platinums who have missed out qualifying Platinum by 10 SCs.

Good luck but unless someone at Qantas goes nuts that request is highly unlikely.

I am now BAEC Silver until 31 August 2014. And the flights I took to earn the status were in July 2009!

I got BD Gold due to being status matched from VS Gold which I got for free when they had a very short term promo. My BD Gold also spinned off AF Gold, A3 Gold, DJ Gold and now BA Gold ;)

And people wonder why QF dont status match!

aahh and argh to the wisdom of this forum...! If only I was a bit slower in requesting my status match from BMI to BA... I only have until next year for expiry of my Silver match :(

Received a new bmi Diamond Club Silver card (my current status) a couple of days ago.

No big deal - just a new card except without the Star Alliance logo on it.

Must've been sent some time ago and postage only made it here, because the cover letter says that I can use certain *A benefits until certain dates when said dates have already passed.

Oh well, another piece of souvenir plastic.

Yeh, I got mine a few weeks OK. Obviously got it quicker as I'm local.. ;)

Unbelievable, I got the A3 Gold and Silver (my wife's) packs today. Both expiry date are Dec 2015!!! 3 and a half years of Gold for me and 3.5 years of Silver for my wife!!!!! I suggest anyone should try to get a match from A3 instead of TK if possible.

Just to clarify from my earlier post about how long I might have left for my status... My online account page says - Membership year ends: 08 Jun 2013
Card expiry date: 31 Jul 2014
I figured that means my current silver status will expire Jun 2013 - is that correct? Had I applied later for the status match from BMI, would it be 2014 instead?
Thanks!

No. For an explanation check The Official Announcement - Migration to Avios & Status Match Confirmed: Discuss Here - Page 56 - FlyerTalk Forums but essentially it just means that your Silver will expire 2014. You have that period between 2013-2014 to get the required TP to renew it.

Also, to those of you whom I need to send cards out to ....... please bear with me (some of you have indicated it's no rush, so thanks for that). I'm only getting a couple of hours sleep right now with the rest being occupied by work, so may not get to this till next week now

How'd you manage A3 gold? I inquired about a status match once and they said they don't do it.

IIRC, A3 were status matching to BD status. I don't recall them offering status match to other programs.
