One of the relatives is flying out next week for a spot of skiing for two weeks. They would like us to pickup their car and park it at our house while they are away. We can't get to the airport until about 2 hours after their scheduled departure.

Is there a way for them to leave keys and parking ticket at BNE Int for me to pickup? Possible solutions?

a) Put the keys into a small left luggage locker. Text me the code so I can access the keys later.

b) They park at an offsite airport parking and leave an authority for me to collect their car later that day.

c) They use valet parking (is that at BNE INT?) and leave authority for me to collect and pay.

Option a) looks most convenient. Are there other ways?

Do they have a spare set of car keys they can get to you before they travel?

If so they can park the car, leave the ticket somewhere in the car they have told you about previously and then you can collect it at your convenience.

This is what I do in this situation.

You're generous! Why don't they leave the car at your place and taxi it? No hassle of keys and its already somewhere safe?

Locker info for Brisneyland. Brisbane Airport - Frequently Asked Questions and baggage. It is annoying there are no lockers at the domestic terminal - my mother-in-law's employer is forever having to ensure that employees have keys as they do swapsies so they can drive back to head office in Toowoomba while various staff are out and about across the country training.

Perhaps a call to the QP to ask what they can offer might work?

As I read the OP they are flying from the international terminal. QP would be out of reach for whoever picks up the car. So a service desk might be better. :?:

Can’t they fly SkyTrans from TWB? Would eliminate a long drive and key swaps?

One flight a day is problematic! My customers swear by the bus service.

Most of their clients are rural - Skytrans certainly helps, but it only works if going to Southern NSW.

Why do you say that, there is a flight at least once a day TWB-BNE?

Why not drive to your place, then they get a taxi to the airport?

My question was in relation to the S NSW comment, are they cheaper with that destination in mind.

It all comes down to the cost of staff wages really. Assuming $100+ an hour including oncosts for a trainer, then factoring travel costs, Sky Trans makes sense when connecting with Rex or Qantaslink to Wagga, Griffith and Albury when compared with either running the gauntlet through Brisneyland traffic or doing the M2/M1 ring road on top for the sanity and productivity of staff. However, if going to Vic, SA or north, it makes more sense to drive and then fly direct.

Exactly what I suggested to Mrs Albatross! I can rest easy knowing I investigated.

Thanks everyone for exploring ideas.

Seems there is a fledgling business case for the "Misc. Desk" in the terminal.

Easiest way I have done it before is leave car at off site parking and go and get it when you get to it. It will cost yu the same for 2 hours or the whole day.

All you have to do it tell them the person who will be picking up the car.

Make sure you have some ID on you.
