See my post #14 - as indicated there I checked the seat map for that particular flight on that day and it is currently showing as a refurb.

This might change, but in most likelyhood, not.

You should be able to tell from your select seat map on Qantas.com.

So if i go to qantas.com manage my booking section, what do i look for at the plane map to determine a refurb?

Thanks

... seat selection only lets me see seats from row 43, onwards to 75? and row 50 on the A380 home.
There's your answer.

In the only other 744's Qantas would use on this route, economy starts from different rows (38, 40 & 51).

If your aircraft has two seats on each side (AB and JK) at row 69, it is a refurbed 747.

If it was non-refurbed, the two seat bloc would start at row 70.

Your screen shot shows the two seat block starting at row 69, so therefore it is a refurbed aircraft.

On the seat selection chart, you can only see from row 43 because that's where Economy begins. (The seat numbers in the 30s are Premium Economy).

awesome ! fingers crossed nothing changes, but im happy with my seats!. So that would mean that it would be OEE, OEG, OEH, OEI, OEJ one of those 747 or others that may be finished by then.

The reason it looks like there's a gap between your seat and the window is because there is a gap - it's very useful for you to store stuff (your carry-on bag, for example) during the flight, .

I few in row 71 which had the two seats earlier this year. Positives: gap storage yes. Negatives: for window-preferrers you can't actually lean against the window if you like to sleep that way. Personally, I wasn't a fan of sitting down there and I'd choose a window further up the place next time.

Thanks for your feedback, i like to hear what others have experienced. There doesnt seem to be much of a better option available anymore as what i picked was back in Feb, now the plane is filling up all the other seats are pretty much taken, - Im sure it will be ok ;)

Stupid question but I'm going on this same flight except in Feb... apart from paying the extra fee to select (which now appears to be $25pp), how can you tell what seats have been assigned this far out ??

hi i think you need to know the dates your going first of all, and i use expertflyer.com to see the seat maps etc and it has an idea of whats available. The only other way i know of is to have a look at seat guru for the kind of seats you want (write them down) and ask qantas if they are available. Im sure others on here can give you better feedback, but thats what i did :)

Good luck on your holiday!
