Re: How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Had a two week trek though Europe and only printed out one train ticket. Everything else done with iDevices. Obviously nothing went wrong, but I find it much more convenient than having to manage reams of paper.

Looks like they may have moved on now (for iPhone users at least). App Store - DB Tickets

Not so sure it has changed, this seems to indicate a different scenario

Generally have had printed copies, plus email confirmation in email account such as gmail which can be accessed anywhere. More recently tripit has been my tool.

Going forward, on big 4+ weeks trips, There is too much paper to carry, I'll have flights and maybe unusual bookings (small hotel or tour company), whereas if there is a problem at an SPG of Hilton hotel, if worse comes to worse ill ask to use their pc of business centre to access my emails and print a copy.

Re: How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Had an interesting one today/yesterday. I went to check in online for my EY flights to MEL (Booked as a return from LHR - I'm going back in October) and I couldn't complete the process. The credit card used for purchase needed to be sighted by EY check in staff. (I vaguely remember this when booking.....but that was back in February, and with an attention span of an ant was forgotten immediately.)

The Amex card in question is now on it's fourth iteration since then. (Long story reported elsewhere.) So I didn't have the card!

I did however have an electronic copy of my statement for February. So I popped it onto my iPad, along with my itinerary, which I whipped out at check in. All was well. Phew! I also have back up itineraries and PNR's on my Blackberry, Laptop and iPhone.....but nothing really beats a piece of paper when you are at the check in desk!

I'm less inclined to carry paperwork for QF flights because I can ring the P1 line and Alan Joyce will immediately and personally come to my rescue and sort everything out....allegedly. :p

1 in 20! That's a high fail rate for you guys. Must be very unlucky ;)
That's a statistic worked out over several years where something goes wrong at some stage.

e.g. If you have hotel stays averaging 5 bookings a year then something would go wrong about once in every four years.
