re: Longest airport walks! Have they got this correct?

My guess isthat is avoiding the terminal trains, walking platforms.

Where's BKK? Would expect one of the terminals at SIN or HKG to make the grade too.

This one at Delhi got our attention. This photo was taken about 5 min after we left the shopping area.

HKG is listed

Thanks. Must have missed it. 1.6Km is pretty impressive, although I have walked it a few times when I've been bored (and also when lounge hopping).

re: Longest airport walks! Have they got this correct?

Using the Google Earth measuring tool BKK is around 1.1km which seems about right to me.

re: Longest airport walks! Have they got this correct?

Surprising that BKK is not listed. From memory E10 and C10 are a long walk from security.

And the furthest C and D gates in SIN are not a short stroll either.

re: Longest airport walks! Have they got this correct?

Claiming PEK as the longest walk is a bit harsh, especially for international flights since they use an internal train system to transfer passengers airside, which would account for at least half, if not more of the 3.2kms. There are also moving walkways in the terminals (although they could do with a few more in my opinion).

Haven't been to BKK for a couple of years now, but I nearly missed my connection thanks to the line for the security check and the massive shopping mall it has with some gates at the ends which they called a terminal. Of course my flight was at the far end. I hope they've at least put in some more moving walkways and a bit more variety in the shops. About a kilometre or more of what appeared to be the same five shops is a bit ridiculous I reckon.

ORD isnt for the disabled either IMHO.

Doesn't IAD and KUL have trains or similar from main check-in area to terminal?

Agreed. I had a 40 minute connection at ORD once I only made via running (and was on very very final call).

I don't run for a plane. I walk. Like last month in ORD. I walked from L - K gates. Plane waited for me :)

You've got that extra buffer with checked luggage.

I have been known to break into a canter......

Yep KUL does have for some (and seems like a long walk also)
HKG is prob one of the longest.
But even yesterday I felt the walk from The Lounge to Gate 11 took ages in MEL

"Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport - 2.1km"

That would be walking along an underground tunnel, past half a dozen train stops with nary a gate to be seen until one surfaces- why any would do so other than for fitness is beyond me.

I note this caveat: "distances from the entrance to the furthest departure gate."

That's why MIA terminal D is not mentioned - it is 1½ km airside end to end: https://maps.google.com/maps?ll=25.799543,-80.27637&spn=0.013948,0.019205&t=h&z=16

I think the entrance to further gate is a bit of a furphy, as it does not take into account connections.

Earlier this year I had a MIA gate 53 to gate 6 connection and 50 minutes to do it - but I did employ the train.;)

HKG also has an internal train.
