I know that we like flights out of Aus but if you are a regular traveller to the USA/Canada this could help. Travel on points one way then start buying the round trips but starting from Canada.
DL and UA seems to be competing for the Canadian market out of LAX. The most interesting part is that the East Coast is only about $10 more than the West Coast. eg. YVR-SYD $3286 inc taxes vs YUL-SYD $3295. Most major Canadian ports seem to be served.
Dates seem pretty wide open through Sept though haven't looked any further.
