Some signficant changes it seems. Methinks maybe:

1. Better use BA Avios points now on QANTAS before they're no longer accepted by QANTAS (and expire with BA due to non-use)
2. No more Singapore stopover on QANTAS (will be interesting to see how the pricing for Syd/MEL - Singapore fares are impacted by this).

Still also trying to understand why Emirates would want to partner with QANTAS, with QANTAS now competing by flying into Dubai. Always thought Emirates was doing well in Asia Pacific / Australia, without needing QANTAS. Unless of course there's a profit share arrangement.

Edit - Oh i see, QANTAS will codeshare to London via Dubai with Emirates. So profit-share I'm guessing and no red kangaroo planes in Heathrow?

QF will still fly into LHR (2 flights and still 2 more spare slots).

As this is the end of the BA / QF alliance, what does that do to OW? You've now got two major airlines who effectively are no longer speaking to each other.
From a one stop approach for destinations outside of LHR, this is certainly a good thing, and in a lot of ways it does make sense for QF to partner with an airline based out of a transit point, as at least for AU, LHR was always considered a destination (or a very annoying transit).

Outside of flying to Europe, I wonder what this means for flying to other EK destinations (thinking NZ here). I wonder if EK's TT flights will fit in with QF code shares and points / SC earning.

BA/QF are still talking, they just decided to do away with the JSA. The JSA was just a separate agreement between the two airlines.

Why would it do anything to oneworld?

Is there any notes regarding existing FF bookings - particular SYD-CDG (flight with CX) and FRA-SYD with QF. Bookings are in May + June 2013

aashwin, suspect you will get contacted in the next few months and likely rebooked on syd-dxb-cdg, fra-dxb-syd

This will hurt JQ on the DRW-SIN route where they codeshare QF feeding into European markets ex SIN. While AY and BA fly into SIN, I reckon DJ / SQ will benefit most from this relationship up here!

Anybody willing to post a summary of what we FF's would like to see from of this deal? Me not so clever.

On the plus side - those with plenty of QFF points can now redeem them on Emirates flights - hopefully with favourable points conversion rates.

For me the most annoying thing about all this is that it doesn't come into affect until April next year. I'm planning on doing my first EK trip end of Nov \ early Dec and it would have been nice to have earned points and SC's.
Also pity that lounge access for QP's is limited to DXB if on EK. I do wonder though, if a flight is booked as QF, but on EK metal, if lounge access is granted for QP's outside of DXB?

Only damage to DRW-SIN pax will be for those going to LHR, who will probably now be pushed onto EK to transit DXB (= another stop). For other European destinations, most will be better now, connecting in SIN onto EK to Dubai and direct into European ports, which is probably much better than transiting LHR to Euro ports.

I am sure all will be revealed. ........eventually

And it looks like I can fly MEL-AKL on EK380 from October

It's interesting how on the QF website, the QF-EK alliance is right in the middle of the page, and yet on the EK website it's no where to be found. - Sorry, update that, I found a single news article hidden away on EK's website, but gee I had to look hard to find it.

Why wouldn't you be able to use the BA avois to get QF flights? There is no JSA with CX but you could use CX points to get QF flights...

Way too much misinformation around...
