In 3 weeks time, I will be arriving at Johannesburg airport at 3pm from Victoria Falls, and flying to Nelspruitt the following morning at 9am. We are staying at the Intercontinental at the airport. I was planing to have a quiet evening and dinner at the hotel but is it worthwhile to have a quick look around Johannesburg (never been before). Vaguely aware of all the dangers / risk of this city so we would go on a private tour eg Layover Johannesburg Tour - Transfers and tours Johannesburg/Sandton

Probably have 1630-1930/2000 at most...too rushed?

Joburg can be horrendously dangerous at any time of day. If you do opt for a tour do LOTS of research on the provider and the tour itself.

Not worth it IMHO. If you are not initiated then you are wasting your time.

Be careful of cc fraud at the IC. Check your statements carefully. Happened to me a few times.

Expensive hotel for what you get, but very convenient

Thanks..I'm liking the relaxing evening at the hotel option more now as we will need a bit of rest before the Safari. The IC Jnb can be had for 30 k PC pts a nite as opposed to the AUD450-500 a nite they are trying to extort...a great use of pts:)

Good call, it always pays to do the sums, more often than not it works the other way!
