We are flying Brisbane to Auckland on Saturday on QF 737 800 in economy. We are both Gold. At the moment I have selected 4B & C as all the exit rows are blocked. Have I chosen well or if 2 exit rows become available, would you grab them? My husband is tall so extra space is always good for him. Thanks for your help.

That's as good as you can get on this plane unless the exit wing seats open up but that is unlikely, or unlikely for two people anyway if they have already been taken.

Good choice IMHO. Row 4 is my choice ahead of exits. Travelling with others to NZ I usually pick 4CD. Opposite sides of the aisle but still close enough to talk (we don't like middle seats :) )

Thanks so much for all your prompt replies. This is such a great site. I will stay with row 4.

We are on QF125 seats 4B & 4C. I understand that the filled in seats are taken but what do the x mean? i.e. why are all the exit rows marked with a cross. There seems to be a lot of empty seats???

x means blocked or unavailable for my level (Platinum). Usually blocked for WP1 or CL levels, or due to operational requirements etc. Sometimes as a WP, the seat has an X in EF for me, but I can still select it in MMB. As a Gold, perhaps you can't select the Exit row just yet. Seeing T-80 has already passed, what can you see now?

As others have suggested, row 4 is just as good as any Exit Row in general. Personally, I find the dividing curtain hanging back when in C/D a bit annoying myself, and am not fond of the tray-table in the arm-rest. Though being at the front is always a bonus.

Don't be fooled by the lack of seats showing filled. People (to my surprise!) often don't select a seat when booking.

EF is showing fare availability as J4 C3 D2 I0 Y5 B5 H5 K5 M0 L0 G0 X2 E0 so it's probably a rather full flight.
