Also, I believe they have 3 holes in economy as well ?? whats the go .... will it work in economy ??

Thanks fro your feedback, really appreciate it, bugger spending $500 and it not working properly.

Cheers

Welcome to AFF.

You need the adapter that converts the 3.5mm to a dual prong stereo device...
and then leave the third hole blank (I don't believe it does anything anyway)

The third socket provides power to the noise cancelling headphones provided by the airline.

Your bose headphones should have come with an airline adapter in the case. This allows you to connect to the system.

And if you don't have the adapter, just buy one on ebay. Delivered for less than $2.

In most seats, your single plug will work just fine in the top hole without the need for the twin plug. I have not used the twin plug (still carry it though) for a long time now.

Yes, will work, but you will only get either the left or right channel to both ears. Ie, not stereo.

Nup. One plug is a stereo port. As I said - I have not used the twin plugs for quite some time. Perhaps the older AC don't have this capability, but I can't think of the last time id didn't work for me as I never use airline headphones [unless I have not noticed it wasnt stereo]

I tested that out last November on QF93 and QF94 and it definitely did not work, tried both sockets each time.

I reverted to my adaptor.

Maybe the domestic planes are different, but I was recently on QF8 in economy and accidentally sat on the adaptor while it was plugged in. That pretty much snapped the metal pin. So I just used the plug on the headphone and I could only get sound on one side for the rest of the journey.

Of course both holes are required. It defies logic that an airline would provide an extra hole gratis if it wasn't essential :mrgreen:

Logic - airlines? Along with the essential ashtrays in toilet doors?
