The website has had its makeover as part of the renaming.

So now, Internet access should be free for Gold and Platinum members.

The brand count is now appearing under your stay information for the year

(Might have to get admin to change the name of this forum too....)

Interesting ...

I can qualify platinum with 50 [-]stays[/-] nights or 40 [-]stays[/-] nights & 3 "brands"!

Australia's highest-earning Velocity Frequent Flyer credit card: Offer expires: 30 Apr 2025
- Earn 100,000 bonus Velocity Points
- Get unlimited Virgin Australia Lounge access
- Enjoy a complimentary return Virgin Australia domestic flight each year

AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements

Still won't help me - I took the VA gold benefit back in March, so if I do have a stay this year at least I'll get free internet.

Sure it's night, but what with the "three Brands then"? -

One of the new features is the fast track!

Fast Track to Elite Status

Quickly advance to Elite Status by staying with multiple IHG[SUP]®[/SUP] brands. We’re making it faster than ever to earn Elite Status when you explore the IHG family of brands with Fast Track.

Fast Track to Gold Elite

IHG[SUP]®[/SUP] Rewards Club Gold Elite will be awarded to members who stay at 3 different IHG[SUP]®[/SUP] brands and accrue 10 Elite Qualifying Nights within a calendar year.

Fast Track to Platinum Elite

Fast Track to Platinum Elite requires 4 IHG brands and 40 Elite Qualifying Nights for members residing in the Americas and Europe. Members residing in Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and Oceania will need 3 IHG brands and 40 Elite Qualifying Nights to Fast Track to Platinum Elite.

SO this needed to be qualifed with the brands bit ... ... or is that just for APAC?

APAC and everywhere except Americas and Europe:

I can't seem to find it, but does it say if you can attain status via normal points earned? IIRC 20k got you gold.

I've noted this entry in my account:

Jun-06-2013
IHG Rewards Club - PLTE - 2014
0 pts.

Does this mean that my platinum status has been extended to end of 2014? Has anyone else noticed this entry on their a/c?

I have a similar annotation on my account, although it says PLTG - 2014 rather than PLTE. I have queried what it means with IHGR.

I also have a couple of stays on my account which were elite qualifying when I booked and paid for them (21 day Apex IIRC), but have mutated to non-qualifying rates under the new rules as they were discounted. Do you have similar?

Does anyone know when they mentioned that what were qualifying rates are no longer such:shock:. Some bloody enhancement that is.

Cheers skip

Email from hotel reservations: "As you are a Platinum Member, you will be upgraded to a King Club room with Club access."

Anyone else experience this recently? Have they finally re-joined the other chains & giving top tier upgrades to club rooms again? Or is this particular hotel just being nice to me because I've stayed there a lot before?

Which hotel?

I've had it happen from time to time in various hotels. I don't think it is required, just that they can choose to do so.

Not really; AFAIK all my bookings for which I have not earned bonus points were made after the change date, or after I was notified of the change. I can't remember the actual dates but I seem to remember they got in first; about the same time that the "enhancements" were announced.
