Changes to QF BNE Int lounge?

I had no issues last Thursday going to the F lounge which was at 10:30am (QF97 to HKG)

Methinx an inattentive dragon ...

... only once (on a Saturday late afternoon before the flight to AKL) have I found the F L closed.

And even then I tried to enter ... before being informed it was closed (for 'maintenance').

I have the option of taking QF8 from BNE-SYD soon. 6:40am flight from the international terminal (I was going to book the 6:45 from the domestic terminal). Flight cost $130 vs $135 so essentially the same.

As a QF WP, does anyone have a preference between dom J lounge vs int F lounge at BNE? It really is no extra effort for me either way.

Dom J unless you want alcohol at that time of morning.

And yes there is extra effort. You have to be checked in an hour before the flight, not to mention LAGS and clearing immigration at both ends.

Not worth it given you need to be at the airport earlier, customs does not open until 5.30.

Done this a few times to take advantage of DSC J fares. The lounge is absolutely nothing special - unless you want to hit the bottle before 7am;)

The QP is a much nicer space and my preferred location for early departures. The check-in "90 mins" early is also a large PITA at that time of the morning.

Not much difference at that time of the morning unless you wanted to drink alcohol.

My concern would be that QF8 may be late in from DFW, causing you to miss your flight ex SYD. I wouldn't risk it - I would take the domestic connection.

I'm heading into the city for a 10am meeting so it would have to be pretty late to be a problem.

I was more hoping for a nice eggs benedict or something rather than the pancake machine in dom J but it doesn't look like that is on the menu.

Domestic flight seems to be the consensus.
