The MH Golden Lounge at the satellite terminal in KLIA will be closed and undergoing renovations from 1 Nov 2013. The business class side will be closed for 5 weeks, re-opening on 8 Dec 2013. The first class side (platinum lounge) will be re-opened on 1 Jan 2014.

Alternative arrangements are as follows...

Enrich Platinum Members & First Class guests can use the following:
1. MAS Regional Lounge at the main terminal building, located close to the aero train, or
2. Cathay Pacific Lounge @ East Wing Mezzanine floor, Satellite Building; close to Gates C21-27.

Enrich Gold members & Business Class guests will be able to utilize the following:
1. MAS Regional Lounge at the main terminal building, located close to the aero train, or
2. Malaysia Airports VIP Lounge @ East Wing Mezzanine floor, Satellite Building; close to Gates C21-27.

I'll be there in late November.

What is the Malaysia Airports VIP lounge? (Will Emerald likely get access?)

There will be a few AFFers in KL late November!

The Golden Lounge in the Satellite terminal is in need of a make-over, especially the bathroom (well, at least the mens - I have not seen the ladies).

The lounge at the main terminal is nice and its a matter of less than 10 mins to get to the Satellite terminal on the train, so quite viable to use it so long as its not overcrowded during the refurbishment.

Maybe in the ViP lounge - 23rd for me ...

I'll be in the MH DOM lounge on 23rd, when do you arrive in KL?

Happy to hear the lounges are getting a refurb, Sad to hear it'll be during my trip!

The CX Lounge is a good alternative if you do not want to spend 10 minutes getting to Main terminal and another 10 minutes getting back again.

I will be there late December and then back again early January 2014 so may visit the Sattelite terminal to see the completed renovations.

Is this the lounge on the first floor with the big electronic doors and big desk, First to the right and others to the left?

Yes, there is only one MH lounge in the satellite terminal.

Given the MTB terminal is much smaller than the satellite terminal...I'm sure there will be serious over-crowding.

I'm luckily missing out on the renovations. I'll be using it on Oct 28 and not again until Jan 12.
The regional lounge at the main terminal is really nice and well worth the visit if it's not too crowded. hat would be my first choice, if you've got plenty of time. If you're a bit more pressed for time, the CX lounge in the satellite terminal would be my 2nd choice.
The Malaysia Airports VIP lounge is cough.

... in size ...or in catering ... ?

If the former they can't do much about it ... if the latter they may temporarily improve for the duration given the higher status access ...

I don't remember it being particularly big and the food and beverage offerings were pretty dismal. However, they'll probably bring some of their own catering and beverages across to that lounge.

I remember that the lounge in the Satellite terminal was shut last year for "renovations"
As mentioned in this article
Lounge check: Malaysia Airlines Golden Lounge - Business Traveller

However to Be honest I don't remember what changed post renovations compared to the lounge before.

I wonder what they are doing this time? Maybe someone can ask if they're traveling through there in the coming weeks :)

Ummm...What are the options when neither of these lounges seem to be open 24/7 and both apparently closed for the majority of your overnight layover? I arrive at 2200 and depart at 0955 the next morning.

The regional lounge will be open 24 hours during this time.
