And rants about someone with Gold status getting the front row of Y begin in 3.. 2... 1..

Was just reading this article.
Coming from a hippy that doesn't shave her arm pits. Go away Missy Higgins. Come out with a decent song and use that for publicity....!!!!! Had 2 flights with QF yesterday and the food was delicious. Albeit in "J"

I'm not a celeb, or a hippy that doesn't shave her pits, but she has a point.

The vegetarian options on QF are terrible. I am vegan (for medical reasons, not some lifestyle choice), and the food is bordering on inedible most of the time, even in J.

Like the woman or not, I hope Qantas pays some attention to this and does something about it. I won't be holding my breath...

She wants respect, yet she fails to respect her other passengers by not shaving her arm pits.
I am sorry I rather the bland vegetarian food over overgrown disgusting hairy armpits.

I really cant see her problem.Just as well she was in Y because in J a salad is just green leaves that are often past the limp stage.

I think the main issue here is that QF is an Airline. Its not a 3 hat restaurant. Dont go and payout on any airlines food. Especially in "Y".
Regardless of the airline, the food isnt that important. I'm pretty sure she arrived at her destination SAFE because she flew QF.
I have had plenty of meals/refreshments that were below average on QF, but im not really fussed.
She has lounge access (SG), which gives her plenty of Vego options......!!!!!!!

She has a point, I am by no means a vegetarian but the options for people who are are dismal.
What I don't like is the way she went about it using her "celebrity" to gain publicity, she must be releasing a new album soon.
Qantas always seems to be the airline in the firing line, Virgins offerings are no way better.

Not QF specific here, but you'd be amazed at how often I've been served a vegan meal on a flight that contains dairy or egg.

I'm not vegan for sh**s and giggles. I have a very real medical condition. On a 2-3 hour flight I'm not overly fussed if I can't eat the food served to me because of catering incompetence. On a 16 hour flight across the Pacific or on an Asia-Europe sector? I very much care if catering stuffs up.

So when you say "don't pay out on any airline's food"? I can, and I will. I paid for this service, and when I'm served food that I literally can not eat, I have every right to rant about it.

I'm not a hippy but I don't shave my armpits.

But I digress. Reading the article my first thought was if you have to refer to yourself as a celebrity then you probably aren't one.

I think Vegetarian meals across the board on airlines are pretty bad, hell even the standard meals in Y are pretty bad!

I flew SQ a few years ago and for some reason got put in last row of Y, hence by the time the meal cart came to me my choice of Chicken or Beef was gone and only the Vegetarian option remained, which was absolutely bland, tasteless and dry. :S

If QF or VA or anyone is going to serve up what they call a Vegetarian meal they should
1. Make sure it is a vegetarian meal
2. The quality and taste should be of similar standard to other meals in that class of travel, good or bad.
Otherwise, do not offer it, and people can bring their own.
BTW, I do not shave my armpits either.

Is Qantas discriminating against vegetarians. I eat the normal food and often wonder that Qantas does not show even the slightest consideration in the taste department in the meal they are offering me. Such is life. Move on.

I'm not a hippy but I don't shave my armpits.
I am not a hippy and don't shave my armpits either.

Who is Missy Higgins again?

I believe JessicaTam has raised the vegetarian meals being awful topic before, so it's not just celebs who find them bad. I haven't tried them, but go to a lovely vegan cafe once a week or so and expect it'd never beat the food I get there, but nor should it really. Likewise, I don't expect the vegan cafe to organise transport to/from or entertainment of some kind ;)
