Hi,

I have an upcoming trip next month and would like to use the new Q Card system while in Australia. Unfortunately I have lost my frequent flyer card and requested a new one today. The CSR said that the card would take two to three weeks to arrive and that she could not guarantee that the card would arrive before I leave New Zealand in two weeks. Being a QF Bronze, would there be any way to try and ensure I receive my replacement card before my travel commences?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Welcome to AFF, I suspect you have done all you can, in my experience QFF tend to be conservative on dates for delivery of cards.

Thanks for the welcome! I tried to explain to her the reason I wanted the card was for the new system, but she just kept on saying that you don't need the card and the number alone is sufficient. I'll try phoning again later to get a different CSR.

With all due respect, that won't achieve much. You may even be charged for the replacement card.

You are also at the mercy of the postage service as well.

Agree the number is all you need. Take a print out from the QF web site showing your details & QF number

Does a bronze card even have the required chip?

All new Qantas Cards are Q Chip enabled, regardless of tier. For the first time, all Frequent Flyer members will have access to Faster, Smarter Check-in where it's available. :)

I don't think you're following what the OP wants - they want to use the Q card check in system. You definitely need your card for that.

TBH though, I see virtually no advantage with the Q card check in so I wouldn't worry about not being able to use it. It cuts about 15 seconds off the time required to check in at a kiosk!

I understand that the membership number or a printout is sufficient to collect Qantas Points. I requested a replacement card as I would like to use the new check-in system during my trip.

Thanks for the advice, I'll keep it in mind!
