Hi

Just a quick one - I was wondering what sort of prices people are getting for HSW over HOP. As documented elsewhere if I can get a good rate close to our rate at our approved hotel I book the Hilton due to free breakfast/internet and snacks keeping overall rate low.

Every time I book I compare the HSW and HOP prices. HSW is reported to be a better hotel (it is certainly flashier) and I would be ok with swapping between HSW and HOP. However the pricing is just ridiculous. I just compared three nights (and this would be consistent with other more recent searches and got the following:

April HOP - $227 HSW - $403
May HOP - $227 HSW - $399
June HOP - $227 HSW - $299

It is just an absolute no brainer based on those differences.

This is using the Hilton website and the AAA rate.

I can not pre-pay and need to have flexibility equivalent to at least what I get from our approved hotel (actually the AAA rate gives me better than our approved hotel).

HOP also has parking for $25 ($40 for valet) compared to $40 for valet only at the approved hotel. I am not sure what the parking rate at HSW is.

Cheers

S

HSW parking is either self park in public parking for $20 per day (need to get ticket stamped on check out for this 'discount' rate) or valet at $45 per day. With self park you pay at a machine and don't earn any HHonors for it.

HOP self-park is you drive down underneath, getting a ticket on the way. On check-in you hand the ticket over and they swap it for a multi use one. The charge goes to yon account and earns HHonors points.

Slightly OT but what code goes in the AAA field, my RACV is not working

Certainly the three digit "Show your card and save" code on the back of the card - when it works ...

There were problems with the international codes with the advent of the revised HHonors web site last year and I'm not sure it's been fixed.

I have not used it in a while as it no longer qualifies for Premium Club discount.

Had problems (some time ago) with the 3 digit RACV code too. Solved by just entering full 16 digit membership number, and haven't really tried 3 digit code with any Hilton bookings since. 16 digit always works.

Still having problems with the NRMA 307 code.

Posted in the forum by simongr and has worked for me everytime :)

Yep worked fine today for four of five bookings I made.

Still can't believe the HSW prices - mind I then tried to book BNE - $503 and $471!!!

Obviously Wed or Thu nights are their busy nights... I am generally in MEL on a Wed or Thu...
