Re: How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Yeah, very true and either way, we don't get a pool when we stay at HSW (my next visit is December.........SUMMER in stinking hot MEL ;))

Too hot? Just stay in your room and up the air conditioner.

At a pinch, fill up the bathtub. Insta-pool :p

Ah, anat0l.........you just crack me up some times !

Have you seen the size of the bath tub at HSW. My bladder holds more after a session in the lounge!

Not sure you've been staying in the right rooms at HSW. I usually get a decent sized tub and I'm not small either.

Re: How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Just drop down to reception. They've always reprogrammed my card when late check out was granted. HSyd even reprogrammed my card just for exec lounge and pool access after checkout because they knew we were going to the museum then airport.....just in case we needed it. HSyd has also given us a programmed card for exec lounge and pool prior to check-in........just in case. Part the reason why I still say Hilton Sydney has provided the best checkin experience I've ever had.
We've had a similar experience at HSW.. Early arrival, room not ready( as expected at 9am) but cards programmed for exec lounge access so we could have breakfast... Great service

Either swanning_it hasn't seen such a tub, or he can drink like a whale. :p

Perhaps both .

Admittedly, I've only stayed once at HSW and the bath in the 2 Bedroom Suite was miniscule (as was the bath in the Hilton Cairns relaxation room). I had to wash one toe at a time.........oops, I must have Yowie toes too! ;)

not a great mental image!

Re: How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Just an update after about 10 stays recently and finally mrssimongr and boygr staying with me. Absolutely one of the best experiences I have had at a Hilton. From arranging the two room suite on a combination revenue (prepaid) and award booking to the general great service in the lounge and at checkin/checkout - absolutely brilliant (though the scrambled eggs in the lounge are a bit under done).

I am going to post separately on the suite vs. two room apartment as it was an interesting experience for me...

Hilton south wharf

Anyone in the lounge right now? I don't know what anyone looks like.

Also, no upgrade, no letter, lounge is also unstaffed apparently. Both sparkling bottles are empty...

So far underwhelmed but its better than Parmelia Hilton I guess.

I've never been a fan of the property, even when it first opened. Find the lighting too dim and depressing, though the views from the rooms are quite good. Lounge canapes have always been quite generous compared to similar properties. Used to prefer staying at Crown Towers when I needed to stay in the city, but living only 15 mins means not many stays these days.

Re: Hilton south wharf

Does anyone know (surely someone will!) what the view at the Yarra suite and Relaxation suite is like? I'm thinking of staying there for NYE this year and a view of the fireworks would be great.

Re: Hilton south wharf

Relaxation Suite is well positioned. It is at the very end of the building, looking towards Docklands. You can see a great from from Docklands across to Crown.

Re: Hilton south wharf

Can somebody confirm that there is pedestrian access all the way along the Yarra (Southbank side) between HSW & Crown? We will likely be staying here for the Aussie Open in Jan and just wanted to check that it's an easy walk along... cheers

Yes there is, and it's quite pleasant.

Re: Hilton south wharf

i currently hold Diamond HH status
Stayed there recently and all i can say is very very poor. I'm wasn't fussed about the fact i wasn't upgraded. i was really disappointed with the following.

Arrived at 1am to check in, was told by the staff member the hotel computers are down and he doesn't know if my room was upgraded (i didn't ask about my room being upgraded). Then he told me the hotel was fully booked for the four nights i was staying, when a check in member tells me the hotel is fully booked alarm bells start to ring. entered my room, was tired and went straight to sleep without turning all the lights on.

woke up in the morning stepped off the bed and felt crusty bread on the carpet. Found long blonde hairs on the floor. The shower had black mould on the tiles. The bedding was dirty and had a used smell.

Called and ask if house keeping and replace all bedding and vacuum the floor. was told "not a problem sir". after spending the whole day out came back to sleep. again didn't turn on all the lights.

woke up in the morning, the same crumbs where there. more blonde hairs were found and the bedding was still the same unchanged.

called and asked them again. was told "not a problem sir".

sunday breakfast went to the lounge at 10:20am. breakfast finishes at 11am. there was almost no food left. i asked the lounge stuff member if he was going to bring anymore food out and he said "sorry sir we have run out all we have is what is already out". i went down and had breakfast downstairs.

during my whole the linen vacuuming was not done.

The standards of the Hilton have dropped.

Re: Hilton south wharf

I've had a somewhat similar experience, both a HSW and some of the other properties ... its pretty rare I have to say, if it were common I'd have stopped staying at Hilton a long time ago. The worst offending hotels for this stuff seem to be those that are newly staffed (or opened) and/or have inexperienced staff. My last stay at HSW I barely recognised anyone, all the faces were fresh, and I got an idea, as I discussed a service failure, that the staff at that time were _extremely_ inexperienced, one of the staffers I spoke with near the front desk didn't seem to know, or understand, what a 'turndown' was (for example).

I used to mention service failures and then leave them to it, but nowadays I tend to follow up, so, if I've asked for a room clean, and I go out, when I return I'll ask how that clean went when I come back past the front desk. If theres been no action then there really isn't much choice but to call in the duty manager ... its the best way in my view ... gives the hotel a good solid view that they have a problem and pretty much 100% of the time gets your problem fixed immediately.

Basically ... complain long and loud hehehe, until things are as they should be :)
