The Hilton promenade is a fairly new property. The rooms are fairly large and well appointed.
The place is part of a large developement.the Hilton is one of 4 blocks of accommodation.acroos the mall is the "south tower"a hilton badged apartment building. The fellow in front of us was upgraded to there but appeared to be a regular. The other 2 blocks appear to be time shares and they have the water views of Lake Taneycomo formed by the damming of the White River. So our view was of the apartment block next door. The ground floor of the buildings are retail outlets and on the lake front are restaurants.a Bass pro store is next door.Across the tracks is the Convention Centre and the Hilton Convention centre.Yes I do mean railroad tracks and the coal trains do go through at night.
At checkin there were 2 agents at the desk.In front of 1 was a queue of 4 people.the second agent was at the Hhonors checkin so we walked up to her.She didn't look up for ~2 minutes then she walked away.We got on the other queue.no doorman was visible and no luggage trolleys so i had to make a couple of trips schlepping our bags.
In room-1 bottle of complimentary water.Coupon for continental breakfast.this was served in restaurant. You could upgrade to full buffet for $6.You were asked if you would like orange juice when you handed over the coupon.i asked if they had tomato juice-no so i took the OJ.Mrsdrron asked if they had apple juice told yes, given an empty glass and told ask the server for it-we didn't see a server-well at least we saved a tip!selection of pastries etc was certainly not as good as HGIs and the 2 hamptons we stayed at had better brekkies.
So a good room,no view and little service.Price was $US149.
