So, now that PT Victoria has finally released their coding and databases to Google Maps, I can actually navigate my way around greater Melbourne without having to spend 45 minutes each time fiddling with PT's awful user interface! I can actually get out of the CBD now without needing to consult an atlas :D. Anyone available for a dinner that evening? Exact time and place to be decided, although (despite being in Melbourne more than penegal over the last three years ;)) I have yet to partake in a dinner at The Olive Tree, so that is my first thought for location. I am open to suggestions though. But it must be a good place, as the upcoming two weeks I'm spending there might be my last visit to Australia for quite a while :(.

Enjoy ... I'll be in London that week ...

As you know, mid week is hard for me as I often travel for work, but I will keep the date in my calendar and advise in due course.

I get back from RTW trip on Cup Day (Nov 1) the day before so will try and make it if I feel up to it. Wherever you decide, may need to book something well ahead being spring carnival and Cup week.

I will be elsewhere in Australia through the following two weeks or so, finishing at AFF #10 in PER, but only the few nights in Melbourne unfortunately.

Barring any unforeseen circumstances I should be available for this

:D

Following. I may be in MEL that week and would love to come to my first AFF do.

Interested in my first AFF gathering.

Hopefully you both can join!

Yeah, I know mid week is tough for many but unfortunately it is what works for me at this time . Wish I had more time to stay, but I'm focused on Tassie and QLD on this trip (the only two Australian states/territories I have yet to visit), so my MEL time is limited on this trip. After this trip I'll have visited every state/territorial capital, as well as spent at least two nights in each state/territory. Feeling accomplished :). Unfortunately, the accomplishments come at the expense of Melbourne time...if I make it back though within the next year or two, it will involve a long visit to Melbourne. I'm in the very long term early planning stages for this as I type, I've completely sold a friend on going to the point where we might even fly economy both ways from here in LOTFAP  :D.

I will pencil it in my diary!

Ditto. As soon as I know, I'll post it here.

Hopefully it works out!

No wonder all of the hotels were so pricey even far in advance . I always seem to go to Melbourne when something is going on, whether intentionally or unintentionally, causing quite a rise in hotel rates. Had to dip into the points balance for this Melbourne visit and almost fully wiped it out in one program...maybe I need to come in August next time :D.

I think I'm in Bali that day. (If I get off the ship)

I'm sure you'll find a way off the boat if Bali is what you're exiting to ;).

Thanks to all for the early consideration and responses.

That is more than most Australians will EVER do in their lives.

I'm scheduled to work in MEL on that day so colour me platinum for dinner. Another vote here for Olive Tree.

Would be my luck that I fly into BNE on 10 November...I will be in CNS and OOL on the days before though.
OOL drinks/dinner? samh004 organised OOL drinks in July.

Bundy Bear can still organise BNE drinks/dinner, and boomy is also around if not working in MEL.
