It has been suggested that prior to the final B767 flight from MEL-SYD, members could meet in the city for lunch or afternoon tea.

Ideas for a venue are now open to the floor.

I will likely be at the Cricket, but there is some hope :p

I have yet to book my flight to MEL but may well be a starter for this.
The choice at the minute is the 0600 JQ from NTL  or I drive to SYD, ditch the car at hotel and fly QF or VA to MEL.
I think the drive down the M1 looks a tad more appealing ;)

There's a surprise

I'm open to the idea of a pre-flight lunch, would a Yum Cha be suitable? (although granted it is a Saturday, not a Sunday)

Then there's always the option of.. Lounge Food...

If you left it at the airport you could be designated driver to the city for those staying the night :p

Yum Cha is an interesting suggestion, but shall leave it with the Melbournites to decide if this is a suitable compromise.

Hi samh004 and all others on QF452,

I'm arriving in on QF415 0930ETA and had plans for quite a day-trip which all got ruined as the flight was changed from QF490 to QF452.
So i have 4hrs to find something to do, so I'm interested if something is planned (I've never been to one of these meet ups before as i've just been a long time lurker of AFF).

Btw hopefully by then I should have my Red P Plate licence (Yes Red P's SO BEWARE ) and *I don't mind giving some people a lift if needed.
*(if i'm able to borrow my parents car)...

At this stage I'm not sure if I'll manage a pre-do event (or is that pre-event do), as I don't know when I'll be arriving in MEL, it's the final piece of the puzzle.

I'll be flying down from Sydney on QF421 picked it because it was another 767 arriving 11:05 in Melbourne at this stage unsure what I'm going to do for the day.

Despite starting this thread, as I'm not arriving till 3 I will miss any pre-do, but see everyone in the lounge :)

OK, To reactivate this thread, is anyone still interested in Lunch on the 27th?

If so, I would suggest a venue close to Southern Cross for those intending to use Public transport, skybussing it, or even taxiing (as it's on the 'right side of the city') to MEL afterwards.

I am quite happy to arrange if enough interest after which I'll accompany those heading to the airport.

Arriving in MEL on QF425 at 1205

Also interested I'll be arriving on QF421

I'm arriving with SWMBO on QF401 at 7:35am (I know, I know but in my defence it was the cheapest option and I'd already dropped $750 on 2 seats on QF767) - regrettably we need to go and see SWMBO's best friend in the 'burbs who is likely to be a very new mother by that stage so I'm going to have to pass on lunch. I'm very happy to guest people into the lounge - I can guest two with WP and SWMBO can guest one in with gold.

I'm flying in on QF415 and have nothing much planned to do for at least 6hrs... So i'm interested!

Looks like a quorum - I'll do some scouting for a suitably located venue that can do lunch on Saturday.

Open to suggestions - somewhere near The Docklands Stadium / Spncer Street.

We have just finished up at Platform 28 just a few steps from Southern Cross. A decent menu and wine list. Worth a return visit.

Seems good - Is it open for Lunch on Saturday?

Later ...

Hmmm is a dimmi restaurant but not bookable this Saturday ...
Sorry, the restaurant is not open for bookings on this date and time. Please try another date or time, or contact the restaurant directly on (03) 9670 9933. (14)
