We have just finished up at Platform 28 just a few steps from Southern Cross. A decent menu and wine list. Worth a return visit.

Seems good - Is it open for Lunch on Saturday?

Hmmm is a dimmi restaurant but not bookable this Saturday ...

Now I know why - closed from the 25th through 28th.

I went for a walk around the area at lunchtime today and almost all places are closed this Saturday.

There is the Mail Exchange Hotel on the corner of Spencer and Bourke Streets which has a Dining area, not too formal for any looking for something light. I have been told there's no need to book.

It is a two to four minute walk across from the Skybus terminus, depending upon the traffic lights.

Unless any have other suggestions I suggest meeting there 12:30pm-1:00pm.

I'll be there, first time attending one of these events... and I don't know how to tell who's who though I think i'll find out somehow .

Also, just a suggestion but maybe we can do 1-2hrs Planespotting at Shep's Mound AFTER the flight for the evening arrivals/departures? (It's near the control tower with pretty good views of RWY16R/34L, Taxiways Bravo/Charlie and the Bravo 7 Rapid exit)

I will keep an eye open here, though I was planning to head to MEL myself say 1500-1530, not sure what QF would have pre-departure in the gate, but either way wish to keep tabs on what others are doing So excited to be a late call up and part of this event!

I'd expect we'd be departing so as to arrive MEL around 2:45pm.

I am tossing up between grabbing 8pm flight back to MEL (J is full, natch!) or staying AT the Rydges and grabbing a late am flight back to MEL on the Sunday

OK, I'll by here by 12:30pm.

The entrance is in Bourke St, 30-40 metres East from Spencer street. Head down the steps or short escalators and then off to the left (away from the Pokies). I'll be in the lounge/bar area.

I probably won't make lunch, but given I have to do an airport check-in I probably will head there earlier than planned if things in the morning work out as I hope.

I bit the silly bullet and booked JQ back Sunday morning. That would be JQ38 SYD-MEL on the 787. I figure F lounge breakfast will make up for it and heck the 787 is the 767 replacement more or less.
