Happy New Year everyone, one of my travel goals for 2011 is to achieve LTG and PG and met more AFF Members.

I believe it can be done, just a little short at present time, but hey its only 1 Jan and helluva lot can happen in a year................

Has anyone else got specific goals to reach this year, big or small??

Hmmmm... Pretty mundane compared to many in this forum. It's to re-qualify QF Platinum, this time with a combination of JASA and KUPP fares in the US. I enjoy the planning phase - exploring the options, reading up on AFF threads.

And, I never thought I would see the day, but thanks to following a lead from a thread here, I have availed myself of FASA award flights to and from SIN in the A380, which will allow me to re-qualify platinum until March 2012. For not much more than classic award points - and with the added sweetener of double SC's... Looking forward to that.

Well done, I always have trouble finding those FASA's. Was it an arduous process sorting this out?

Well 2010 was my biggest ever year of flying with 66 flights over 28 trips and about 99,100km travelled.

My goal for 2011 is to retain WP, which shouldn't be hard. I am weighing up going for PG with the new 2400 SC requirement.

Whether I top 66 flights is another matter. I'd like to give it a good shot and I should have the flights to do it in too.

Day 353 prior to our trip planned for 2012 has been noted. The plan is to Book Mrs 11 and Jnr 11 in J on Classic awards and fly myself *Class to HNL. They'll miss me for a few days whilst I Y/Kup my way to WP.

No big plans for 2011 bar a trip to HKG for Jnr's 5th birthday to be spent with the Princesses at Disneyland.

To try and attain 420 SC based out of LHR before April 30. Then after that maybe try a few new airlines.

My goal is to spend more time at home with the family.

I think the key was booking it as two one-way flights. So I searched using the flexible date option using two tabs in the browser - one for the outbound, one for the return, and thus I managed to find two dates that worked with my schedule. Very satisfying. Oh - and, I spent a lot of time looking...

A paid J class ticket to LAX (and possibly rtn), try for a upgrade to first.
Requalify for SG (sadly my US trip and subsequent status runs comes at the very end of my FF year)

I guess my goal is to re-qualify SG successfully, and then maybe try for WP. Thanks to the double SC promotion, I should make the SG goal very easily. I just hope the flights go to plan of course.

2010 was my biggest year ever also. 144 flights (I spent today at flightmemory.com), 182,000 kms and 2520 QF SCs. Mostly work flights but 3 personal international trips.

Up until about 18 months ago I averaged about 4 flights a year.

My goal this year is to make the most of my WP, before it's gone. Got there for the first time in Feb this year. I expect my work travel to reduce to only 7 or 8 round trips a year after June 2011.

I have a FFP OW RTW in J booked for August (a milestone birthday, and I've decided to treat myself). Note: The points are mine, work points are used for work travel.

This trip will be my first ever long haul flight in J class. I took my first flight 39 years ago (when I was quite young!), so it's about time I reckon. The trip includes 2 legs on the A380, including MEL-LAX. I've flown the A380 twice so far, but I'm led to believe that J is a different experience.

I've also booked a BNE-NAN J trip which is less than 3 weeks away. I'm being nice to myself this year.

Having a go at WP this year, already have 520 SC's and till OCT to get there. A NAN run in April and a classic award back to the home country in June.

Thanks to the double SC promotion I should make the 600SC to retain gold without trouble. I just had a week in Auckland thanks to PointBreaks and taking the LAN SC flight back to Syd. In two weeks I'll take the SC run with the double SC promotion to Fiji for four days of relaxation.

My goals are to make 2011 the Platinum Year (QFF and PriorityClub). The real trick I'm facing is which SC runs to do when I go to the USA in July and getting there (Qantas direct or another SC run to Fiji and then Business AirPacific Fiji to LAX? Or even a LAN SC trip to Auckland and then to LAX on Qantas from there?).

That said I'm really quite torn about putting in the effort/money and might fall back to just keeping Gold since Platinum really doesn't offer a whole lot. It has just become something of an addictive competition now and it'd be nice to hit the top level (excluding CL which isn't really attainable). I'll have to see how things are looking after my Fiji trip I guess.

my goal is simple

LTG by June/July, then only fly for leisure...

I figure there are very few days left to get set on LAX flights while the A380 is not running by using points if you have them.
Be positive Blue Bottle and book now in PE,J or F for that A380 experience while the rest of the crowd wait in the wings for the re-start announcement.
After that you could be wrestling with about 7 million others rather than about 23,000 AFF members.

My travel goals are:
  • Retain QF gold - should be easy as I already have 950 SC booked. In fact, I can get back to platinum with my nominal travel needs (even with the switch to DJ)
  • Retain DJ gold - this will be more of a stretch target given the schedule limitations. But I have a decent number of scheduled payrises during the year so I can increase my airfare spend to help get this target. I also hope to try the new DJ "J" product when it arrives.
  • Work on my AAdvantage balance. By switching earning on QF flights following retaining of gold or platinum (depending on my whim). It will be low level earning (N, O fares) so I'll have to seriously think about it, but still it would be a start.
  • Then there is my already booked 40th birthday QF international J flight

My goals are pretty simple and the first one will probably get me barred from AFF ;)

1) Reduce my travel, focus on quality rather than quantity. Get to WP and that's it. Travelled a ridiculous amount in 2010 and hated breaking up my fitness routines! Hotel gyms just don't have enough free weights (usually).

2) Try DJ when they have relaunched :) Cant wait to see their new inflight metal. Not that hopeful of their service/FF stepping up to my standards, but love a good new plane!

3) Fly QF 734 Business before it is replaced by the next gen 73H (weird I know but it's the only QF J class I haven't flown!! It's niggling at me)

4) Fly the next gen QF Q400 when it arrives in Feb (for much the same reason as point 3)

Laudable goals, certainly cant see you getting barred here. Still plenty of 734's around, has been a good workhorse for QF.

What are the changes in the New Gen Q400? (i am another big fan of this aircraft it strikes me a being very reliable, not sure why some operators experienced problems it whereas we have not?)
