"Welcome aboard sir , your the only one travelling with us tonight" .
I have just got off talking to a friend and he was on QF494 , 9pm Melb to Syd service tonight (Wed 19th Oct) and he had a whole 767 aircraft to himself . Nothing like personalised service with 7-8 FA looking after you . They upped him to Biz & he sat around and chatted with the FA's on the trip up , and apparently the captain dropped out for a quick chat also.
Whilst i was stoked he got the service , it seems strange they would do this . They must have needed to position the aircraft & crews back in Syd , I would suggest . Anyone else had this happen to them ?

I have attached a photo he took inside the aircraft.

What a bizarre experience that must have been. Certainly makes for quick boarding! ;)

Certainly never happened to me, though I'm quite sure it has happened before. Your theory about positioning sounds plausible (though I hasten to add I know nothing about this area).

Awesome! Closest I've ever come to this was a JQ flight where I was the only person in star class .. but this would have been way cooler :D

Got close SYD/MEL on Ansett one late evening flight, would have been no more than 20 pax on 767 service.

Cheapest private jet ever. ;)

I've had nothing like that, but did once have two JQ flights (SYD-PER and PER-CGK) where the cabin was absolutely packed, but the first few rows had 1 passenger per row. I called it my economy JQ bed - actually wasn't too bad considering I landed in Jakarta at 6am and had to be at work by 9am! Managed to get a decent sleep on both flights.

Cheers,
- Febs.

I had it a few months ago doing the run up to KGI at the front of the 737.

Same crew on the way back, but with a family aswell. I did enjoy both runs.

As an aside, the snack going up (Smoked Salmon) was much more palatable than the pork option on the way back. Pity I could not have swapped it for another serving of Salmon...

How did they handle the priority boarding announcements? Or did they go straight to "Paging Mr Smith. Your flight is now closed and awaiting immediate departure. Please proceed immediately to gate lounge number 8" :)

While I have had numerous flights where I've been the only one in J, the best I've done on a whole aircraft level was 6 on a 767. Again, most likely a positioning flight.

And mannej - I also quite like the smoked salmon, although I did get a bit sick of it once where it was on every evening flight I took for a whole month.

Forget about priority boarding - how long did it take for your bag to come out (assuming you had a checked bag, of course!) :)

I had the whole J section on an Air NZ flight to Auckland 6 weeks ago. The service is fantastic when it's just you.

They even brought my travel mate up for a beer just before the decent.

Greg.

Been 1 of 6 on AN1 one Saturday morn SYD-MEL, worst service I ever got!

You had a full priority service.

Boarded at your convenience.

First off

Now this is the big one...

And i guess you had priority baggage as well.

I had CX in F to myself once.

Would have been strange to be the only on board at all though.

I thought crew weren't allowed to give on board upgrades ;)

I was of only 2 in F on BA (which isn't terribly unusual i'd imagine).

I was the only 1 in the bubble on QF J from SYD-LAX about 10 years ago.

Have been one of 3 on a 737 Melb to Hobart, we just sat where we wanted. Very relaxed. It was a positioning run at the end of the day for the next mornings full load.

Matt

1 of 13 on a 737 OOL-PMR. Freedom Air (I think) had cancelled NZ-Fiji flights due to some crisis and put the jet into TT service, at short notice.

Great to read everyone's experience's , which actually reminded me of my own experience that I had some 20 years ago when i travelled from Sydney to Bathurst . It was early morning flight with Hazelton, on either a Saab 340 or Metroliner ( memory not that good) . It was just me & the pilots that took the trip up to Bathurst , which was pretty cool. I remember sharing a good laugh with the guy that picked me up, around did the company pay for private aircraft to get me up there ;-) The flight was full to go back from Bathurst to Sydney, which i assumed was why they sent it up there with just me on board.
