I was reading everywhere online about New Year's resolutions and it got me thinking, what's my New Years travel resolution?

Mine is to complete my next couple of O/S trips carry on only... It might not sound like a lot, but I'm one of those guys that travels with carry-on plus 2 suitcases (one big, one small)... this will be a challenge!

I also want to experience First at some point in 2012. I mainly fly business, but I'm yet to get an op-up, so a points upgrade is my best option!

So what's yours? Want to travel somewhere in particular? Travel a new airline? Hit a new FF tier? Be creative...

Enjoy and Happy New Year!

Ben

Travel more for pleasure than work.

Keep my WP status but the last few months have had no travel due to many reasons.

1. Obtain WP; Looking ok courtesy of plenty of Rio Tinto PBO trips coming up;
2. Try a JASA. Will be done late June to tip me into WP if needed (cashing in the 40th Bday chits);
3. Try *class out;
4. If points and $ permit attend a AFF Golf event. Beware the weary chopper (pretty sure I'll be a TA and catch a Y red eye over)!

We are planning a very nice vacation mid year. Just the 2 of us I'd like to take +1 to the best restaurants on the planet. French Laundry, Fat Duck and Noma etc.

2012 will see me fly less and stay longer.

Glasgow in May including QF A380 for the first time, Singas in October with brother inlaw and his wife, and plenty of ADL-SYD return in between.

Looking at JASAs to tip me over partner gold, so we can have full lounge access for the Singas trip. I would also love to get us into the F lounge, but that's a slim chance. Getting PG would also tip me over lifetime silver.

Alot less international travel this year, maybe 3-4 trips versus the usual 12+.
However, heaps more domestic travel...which means more golf, get my handicap back down to 2 or 3.

Only three trips planned for this year.
PER-DPS in March Y
PER-MEL-LAX-MIA-LHR-SIA-PER in July in J
PER-SIA-LHR-DUB-LHR-SIA-PER in J for Christmas

Resolution is to do no more than the above, thats it.

Use JASA instead of classic awards - so far I've exchanged 2 trips using classic awards - Melb to HKG return, and an upcoming return to Tokyo. Both trips with no SCs :-(

Travel smarter :)
I'd also love the upgrade gods to finally get me in F on the A380.
I will also at least start at trip to the LOTFAP with carry-on only.

To travel less and catch up on all the stuff around the house that I haven't been able to do over the past couple of years due to travel.

Ive done all that stuff around the house and now I want to travel!! (parallel dimension) LOL!:cool:

1) Reach 8,000 Qantas Frequent Flyer points. If I do that I'll be happy =)
2) Bowl in a tournament somewhere interstate

Some of my goals for the coming year

  • Reach 1,000,000 QFF points or as close as possible
  • Visit some countries/places I have not visited
  • Try and get my on-time performance above 50% :mrgreen:
I want a job as an international document courier :cool:
I could just about look forward to going to work with that type of job! ;)

Have someone else pay for my flying so that I can continue to fly :)

That would be awesome but it's not likely to happen while I am self employed. My goal is to find 2 x FASA on A380 to London

My main travel goal for this calendar year is to complete my first DONE4 as a hand luggage only trip. I've already done a trial pack and the bag weighs exactly 7kg.
