Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Also has 15% CR at the moment
Tks for the alert on the 15% chonko - I looked earlier that day or day before and it was only showing 7%.

Anyways 15% + 5% Gift + $36 code brought the Victoire Champagne down from $95/bott to $72.06 IMCAC. Best I could gat at Dans about $89.

Just noticed SHOPBACK has 20% Cashback for CM.

I went for this Mystery Cab Sav 2016. Apears to be Dandelion Pride of the Fleurieu Peninsula Cabernet Sauvignon 2016. With a $50 voucher + egift + 20% shopback it came back at $6.72 a bottle.

A heap of Penfolds on site also, but not sure if decent prices.

Also received my Mystery Heirloom Vineyards Barossa Shiraz 2016. Quite happy with that one too.

Also, on the off chance that someone is making an order from Winedirect, here are a couple of CODES. I was eyeing off the Shiraz pack that had the purple hands and Richard Hamilton Centurion, but it seems that one has gone now...

With every dozen wines

2FREESHIRAZ gives 2 x Curtis Cavaliere Shiraz 2016 (ends 11.59pm ACDT Monday 5th November)
or
FREETERRA gives 1 x Monterra McLaren Vale Shiraz 2016 (ends 31 December 2018 or while stocks last)

Please more GWD sleuthing ...and more GWD posts generally as can often parlay an Amex credit to bring costs down significantly.
So I popped into the tasting room yesterday. This is a straight Shiraz and based on the bottle I'd say it is the Isolation Ridge, which got 88-95 points. I grabbed a couple of bottles but wouldn't rave about it

Living in Tas I can't avail myself of the tasting experience but it would be great to hear your impressions, mind you I've got a dozen on the way so hopefully I haven't blown my dough one way or the other :) (won't be the first time I've boomeranged a carton back to the supplier)....

I know that GWD wines don't figure greatly in the desirability stakes here but occasionally they put out something interesting, I've done bit of sleuthing on this one: $9 delivery Australia wide | 100% money back guarantee | Australian owned and can only deduce it's possibly: SmithCullam Shiraz 2007 (vintage notwithstanding). Seems like pretty good value for $13.99 a bottle down from $60 and probably reflects its drinking window.... Happy to be corrected on this;)

>> I bought 2 of these (It's a 2008, my guess was Isolation Ridge), opened one tonight and out of the bottle the bouquet was a weird combination of an earthy pinot and Chum. Hopefully it will get better with some air but I must say after visiting the tasting room and every wine I sampled smelled off, I don't think I'll be back here in a hurry.

Thanks Chonka.

Anyone tried this:
Dandelion Lions Tooth Shiraz 2015 2015

It reads Shiraz on CM, but I think it’s actually a shiraz Riesling blend?

I got the 2015 Lionheart Shiraz last year when they had it as a mystery wine. I liked that a lot.

It is a Shiraz-Riesling and from McLaren Vale usually rather than Barossa. I prefer not to buy Shiraz "polluted" with white grapes.

95% shiraz, 5% riesling. You can't argue with its brightness, nor with its perfumed appeal. It's blue- and red-berried, touched with sweet herbs, medium-weight at most and ripe/sound through the finish. Riesling no doubt had an influence but it's not overt, there's nothing dogs-balls about it. It's a pretty red wine, well-shaped and massaged into highly drinkable territory.

Thanks kevviek, I thought it couldn't be the Isolation Ridge because the SmithCullam was the only shiraz I could find from Frankland Estate that was listed at the $60 RRP quoted by GWD, I've just taken delivery of my (gulp) dozen so will report back, doesn't sound too promising I've got to say dammit...

Based on your tip over the weekend, I went and tasted this at GWD and bought half a dozen. Opened one tonight, very happy with it as a mature red at that price.

I opened one last night and after the ahem "meaty" nose had had a chance to breathe it isn't too shabby, curious to go back to it after it's opened up a bit more...

Yeah, so that was the interesting thing. I asked if it was SmithCallum, they said they don't disclose what it is, but that it definitely was a straight shiraz. So even though the alcohol doesn't line up (14 vs 14.5%) I'd say it is probably this: Flametree Frankland River Shiraz 2008 - it is Halliday 5 star, 95 points, currently available at the cellar door for $60 and in the same shaped bottle ;-)
