The Chardonnay Thread

If I had spare space, then I'd be spending my Vinomofo credit on this:

Compared with their pinot noir, I haven't tried much of their chardonnay, but given that this has received rave reviews, that might have to change: Dog Point 2015 $34.99 @ My Wine Guy ($30 voucher)

The 2016 (BC96, MB/NS/HH95, RC19/20, JR17/20) is available from "FWC" for $25.25 (pm me for invite, no referral benefits) - Boccaccio also had it at 2-for-$50, but has now sold out and probably can't access cheap pricing anymore to continue replenishing such a deal due to recent reviews - Jancis Robinson:

Auswine currently has 10% off plus free delivery for orders of at least six bottles from the What's New section of their website - combining with 10% off for new customers using newcust, consider these recently rated 94-96pts on Winefront:

$16.65 @ "FWC"

Leeuwin Estate Art Series 2016 (RJ99+) $89.91 @ AusCellardoor after 10% off (pm me for code)

Correct. Stocks are critically low now of the 2016. I think we have a case or two still, but I can't seem to locate them.

Art Series stocks have taken a pounding and unlikely to have any left beyond April i would hazard. Thats the entire allocation of the year too.

If you're interested in the rare Timo Mayer 2018, then France-Soir has it for $53 (along with his other wines) :)

$18.88 @ Dan Murphy's (before Cashrewards/WISH) - postcodes 3038, 4061

I got a text message from broker from WD today. They have a cleanskin 2004 reserve Chardy that they said is from Piccadilly Hills. I think i had some of the 2006 in the past and it was pretty damn good. Have been assured it was the same winery. Worth a punt at $150 a dozen. Not listed online though so if you want it, prob have to call or email. If it has held up (which they claim it has) then could be a good buy, aged chardy is not easily found!

I quite like this little number. Really good fruit. Liquorland had it on special for $12

6.30-8.30pm: Kumeu River Vertical Tasting with Michael Brajkovich @ Prince Wine Store ($65)
I was looking forward to the first, but unfortunately instead can't miss perhaps New Zealand's best chardonnays - it won't be as comprehensive as last year's Mike Bennie retrospective, let alone their greatest ever tasting with 48 wines that Jancis Robinson and Stuart Pigott attended, but still should be good - just a shame it clashes with the wine and cheese one - wonder if I should bring some 2008 Estate to contribute as it isn't included? :)
Michael actually conducted the 48-wine tasting (4 vineyards x 12 vintages) earlier that day - unfortunately mainly press/media-only :(

NZ winery’s gentle touch makes for chardonnays that age beautifully
  • KUMEU RIVER WINES Estate, Auckland 2017 $28.50
  • KUMEU RIVER WINES Coddington, Auckland 2017 $39.75
  • KUMEU RIVER WINES Hunting Hill, Auckland 2017 $43.50
