Best A380 seats for a giant

Maybe not a giant as such but what economy seats would people suggest for someone 6 foot 8 tall? Don't normally have the luxury of choosing an exit row as the kids are usually traveling with me...but not flying with me this time to LAX. I don't mind paying for the exit row but wouldn't be adverse to a cheaper option with leg room. What seats would you recommend in preference order for someone of my height? Am I missing any good seats in my list below? My list isn't really in any order. Haven't booked my flights yet but would be handy to be armed with my preferences for when I do pull the trigger.

If any of those are bulkhead seats, forget about them at your height. You would end up crippled.

80A/K would be pretty ideal

Trust me I am very familiar with being crippled on flights. Hate flying for that reason. Hence why I need to take advantage of not having the kids with me. I'll be devastated if there are no extra leg room seats available.

I'm 6'3 and sat in 80K MEL > LAX and I found that seat great. You can stretch your legs out quite comfortably and ingress / egress to the seat is awesome.

They are all good seats with extra legroom (no bulkheads)

I get that, but my point was that the bulkhead seats are quite the opposite of extra legroom if you are taller than approx 5'10". When that height or taller, one is better off in a standard seat.

blackcat20 has given you the definitive answer anyway.
 
My partner and I flew QF 11 to LAX last July. On the way over we had 52 D,E which is a bulkhead seat and on the way back had 56B,C which is a standard economy seat. I am only 6'2" but I would choose bulkhead over a standard seat any day. Having someone recline into your knees for 12 hours was terrible. There are better seats than bulkhead as above, but if all that's left is bulkhead vs standard I would choose bulkhead.

I have long legs and I like row 32, but mostly because there is no one in front to squash my knees.

We are in 32 J/K to LAX and back on the USD444 fares in a few weeks....will be interested to test them out after varying reports

The upside (besides no one reclining into you) is access to the side storage bins.

If you have platinum status and the flight isn't completely full, you will get a lot of love sitting in row 32 from my experience last month :)

Or even if youre Gold and the flight is chockers, if youre nice to the crew....
 
I'm 6' and go for 33A/K over row 32.

If one of 80A/K, 48A, 66A/K, 48A or 71D (in that order) are available I'd grab it.
 
I am a few inches shorter than the OP, and to my mind 80 A/K, the exit rows, and 71D are the only options. 80 A/K are really good seats. The exit rows are comfortable seats but you do get knocked, stood on at night, etc. (tip: wear white socks so people have half a chance of seeing your feet and not stepping on them).

The bulkheads are torture because you can't straighten your legs. A regular seat is better, although still very uncomfortable.

In days gone by QF would take one look at you and give you an exit row (for free of course), as they did for me on most flights for 20 years (mostly with no status). The fact that they don't anymore is a big reason why I rarely fly with them these days.
 
I'm 6'4" and agree with timster that 71D and 80A/K are the way to go. However, I don't mind the bulkhead 32A/B/J/K - even though you can't fully straighten your legs out, you at least have the extra knee room and can cross your legs (foot on knee) easily. These seats also seem to be slightly wider than other bulkhead seats in Y (or perhaps just my imagination?)

If legs-straight is a requirement, then go with the seats mentioned previously.

I agree. In 33AB/JK you can stretch out and knees don't get squashed although the seat in front does recline quite a way!

The AK seats still get the window locker and AB/JK have no-one behind due to the take-off/landing crew seats. So there's no problem reclining your own seat when you like and there's no-one hitting, kicking the back of it either.
