I've got a MEL-SYD-CGK return coming up in Y in the next week.

I've taken a look at seatguru, and the front row of Y mentions that while there's some additional leg room due to bulkhead, that very tall people may still find it's not enough. Can someone define "very tall"?

Never been on an A330 for long haul, so looking for ideas for best seats especially for leg room given im 189cms.

I've flown a couple of long-haul flights recently on A330-300's (SQ, ADL-SIN, QF ADL-SIN) and had the baulkhead row.

I'm 183cm and find it more comfortable due to not having my knees jammed in the seat in front of me, however you can't stretch your legs out much because the baulkhead is all the way to the floor (it doesn't have a recess at feet level like some of the 747-400's do).

I can put my feet up on the baulkhead to stretch them out (feet on the baulkhead is another forum post which we won't go into here!) but at your height you may not be able to do that comfortably.

YMMV!

Yeah, for me the issue is knees, not so much feet. Even a flight to Perth can become uncomfortable when someone reclines the seat in front of you and your knees are supporting the chair.

Yeah, I find them better than a 'normal' seat too, at 182cms (although I've never tried the centre block). Less foot room, but more knee room, and the possibility of putting your feet up on the bulkhead if you're that way inclined!

The A and K seats in particular are really good - the window side armrest lifts up, so you can move sideways quite a bit more than usual.

I was also wondering about the same plane, with the exit row 45A/K How much does the escape slide affect leg room?? Or would B/J be better (apart from being annoyed with people waiting at the toilet)??

Thx in advance

I have sat in 23A and 23G on flights MEL-PVG-MEL and had no problems with leg room. (I'm 5 ft 11 inches). :)

I prefer no having a seat reclining into my face on long haul.

Exit row isn't too bad, even in A & K. You can either rest your legs up on the slide or just angle them slightly inward.

I've selected (and paid for) 45J for the SIN-ADL leg on QF 082 on Sunday, just so I can stretch out for some sleep on the home journey for this particular flight.

Agree. If you can get the two in the middle and put up the armrests. Plenty of leg room

45A and K are my favourite economy seats on any plane (apart from getting a Y+ seat on for a Y price - and I've never been in one of the good seats on an A388). Again, armrest on the window side goes up, and the escape slide can be used as a footrest (the top is flat, not like on a 744). Really comfy!

When I was in 23J, I could also stick my legs out to the side of the bulkhead (and into the galley). Also, just a reminder that gate-to-gate AVOD is not available in bulkhead/exit rows.

I'm the kinda flyer who likes a window, I take my seat and may not get up the whole flight, I have flown in the window bulkhead seats to HKG many times (23A/K), I'm 183cm and each time I swear that I won't choose the window seat again, you can't stretch your legs, and my knees begin to ache..........but there is something about the bulk head that lures me every time, first served?, no reclining in front? easier for the CSM to find you?

Maybe I should switch to the aisle, but I would be worried about being bumped / run over.....

I find the exit rows seats are the best closely followed by 23BJ.

It is not the legroom in 23BJ bulkhead that is most appealing, I am only 5' 9", but rather not having someone recline into my face throughout the flight.

And in fact next time I need to be careful as I had sore legs from sitting in 23A on a SIN-PER flight where I could not stretch out my legs.

I'm 5 foot and a half, and when full stretching my legs in 23B/J, I would still have to stick them out into the aisle past the bulkhead. Only midgets should apply for 23A/K.

Which is why I could not understand the earlier posts of people 6' foot plus sitting in the AK seats.

And while on this topic, I'll try out 39A or B next red-eye. It's the crew rest behind, so I think I should be able to have the seat reclined for the entire flight (except take off/landing). Which means I simply put my eye mask on, and refuse all services. :)
