There is only one small problem. I am not travelling to the USA. How can they make this sort of mistake?

Computer error?

Best guess I can make is that a PNR Reference that you previously had for another flight (or a gift voucher) has been re-used for a US based trip. For some reason that has been tied back to you.

Does the flight appear on your flights listing? What happens on Amadeus when you enter the PNR and your surname?

Scam ?? Is it a real Qantas email ?
Never click on links in emails. Type the link text into a browser

Email looks genuine. It is from [email protected] and I have had emails from this email address before.

Link has an error. I cannot see any of my bookings with USA flights. I have 3 vouchers outstanding but cannot see how they would have US bookings on them.

Very strange.

Did you use a voucher for the booking? I had exactly this for a recent voucher booking. It showed a segment from or to VCH, IIRC.

Sent from the Throne

It is strange,, Qantas web address is .com. not .com.au
all the emails that I have received from them are from the .com address,

Be careful, maybe you're not going to the USA, but your luggage is.

Which booking? The email does not contain any references to bookings.

And I use vouchers for all my bookings....

Ok then, I used a recently purchased (ie not last december) voucher for a one way booking recently. It contained a segment from somewhere in the US to somewhere in Africa. I believe these are placeholder segments they put in vouchers, Serfty would know exact details. I got at least 3 emails, exactly like the one you mention, asking me to complete the [-]ETSA[/-] ESTA () details before the booking could be completed. Despite the warning about not being able to finalise the booking a ticket was issued. It, the segment and emails, eventually went away.

I would suggest using checkmytrip to see if you have the same.

On which one of my 17 bookings or 3 unused vouchers?

I deleted the emails, so I can't really tell you. The first email did arrive within about a day or so of making the booking so maybe start with your most recent bookings first. I also use the MyFlights App so it was rather easy to find the dodgy booking using it. I do think it told me a booking reference, maybe when following the link. Actually, that would be another way to see if it's a scam, check the booking details and see if it matches one of your bookings. :!: You don't need to actually enter any personal information.

It won't be one of the 3 unused vouchers. :p

... I got at least 3 emails, exactly like the one you mention, asking me to complete the ETSA details before the booking could be completed....

I would be shocked if filling in your ETSA details would get you into the US!

(One for the south australians amongst us.....)

OK I have finally found it.

I looked at link earlier but it did not click. I put the link into notepad and can see booking reference.

The booking is one of the vouchers I purchased last month and those vouchers had issues and I also did not receive email confirmation of the vouchers. I called Qantas and used 3 of the vouchers on OOL-SYD return bookings when they were on special. The first of these is not until February 2013 () and it is this particular voucher.

I still have a voucher that has not been used.
