Hi!

So my pre-selected Row 4 of QF7 in November has just disappeared... what does this mean? That we will be on a new refurbed plane?

Any other suggestions for a good seat for Hubby, myself and 18m old bub? (no Exit Rows allowed :()

Seat Guru doesn't seem to have suggestions for this layout...

Thank you :)

Re: QF7 - No Row 4?

Do you still have any allocation? What seats can you select? I'd go for any in rows 1, 2 or 3 preferably 3E/F or the exit pairs upstairs in row 14.

I don't want to hijack the OP's thread but I'd be interested in your view of 5B or 5J on these new fit outs.

These are clearly the best J seats if travelling solo - they'll be what I'm going to choose on the refurbed aircraft. (Though I will miss the F seats in the nose ex DFW).

Re: QF7 - No Row 4?

Thank you for the seat map :)

no, I logged on today to find that my selection had just vanished but no reallocation... I've now chosen row 3. Most of the upper deck is gone which is ok, better to be away from the stairs for bub anyway :)

Im quite happy with row 3 unless any better suggestions are offered - although I am cheekily wondering if I should select a 3-seat row in the hope of an empty seat... Mean though in that other passengers cabt see we are travelling with a child...

Will just see what happens as the dates get closer I guess :)

Re: QF7 - No Row 4?

Grrrr - I just found myself in the same situation. Booked QF7/8 for July this year with my wife and 2.5yr old, specifically because we wanted the old 747 First cabin - A380 First won't work as there's no way our daughter can sit by herself in one of those seats for takeoff & landing and this was the closest alternative.

Now I find that we're on a refurbed aircraft and QF changed our seating allocations without even telling us. Perhaps I'm expecting too much to be advised of the change - I suppose they think I'll be happy to find I'm on a newly refitted aircraft rather than hugely disappointed that I'm going from a nice 1-2-1 mini-cabin with 9 other pax to a 2-3-2 config with 23 other pax.

I'm kinda tempted to leave my new seating allocation as is - QF have decided that my wife and I should sit together in 6J & K and our daughter by herself across in 6D. I'm sure that'll impress the other passengers in that row immensely.

Failing that we'll probably grab one of the rows of 3.

Just remember it could change another (X) times before July.

Re: QF7 - No Row 4?

why dont you just seat your daughter in 6J or 6K ?? essentially youve got 3 seats to shuffle yourselves around in..and 2 of those are together.. so 1 parent can always be next to your daughter!

Re: QF7 - No Row 4?

similar situation - jagged a JASA for 150k SYD-DFW in October, also a cabin change from the original row 4.

can anyone give a definite thumbs up to 5B/J if a solo traveller? i can see a couple of singles free in row 3 so not sure what would be better.

cheers

I'm trying 5J on QF18 in early March. I'll report back...if I remember. Give me a nudge if I haven't posted here by the middle of March.

I would go Zone A over Zone B or Zone F.

As a solo traveller, based on general, not specific, experience I would take either 5B or 5J in a heartbeat if available. If not, then in order: 3E, 3F, 14B, 14J, 14A, 14K then any available aisle seat in zone A.

I'm going to take your advice serfty and go for 3E instead of 5J.

Re: QF7 - No Row 4?

I am a little confused here the qantassource says this:

Three Class 58J/36W/270Y aircraft are scheduled for the Sydney - Singapore - Frankfurt, Brisbane - Los Angeles and Brisbane - Singapore routes.
There are currently two Three Class 56J/40W/275Y aircraft. These have A380 style seating and is scheduled on the Brisbane - Los Angeles route.

Linking to the upper deck seat map

58J/36W/270Y (which should per the above be the old style SKB1)

Th ething is that row 14 is the upper deck exit row that serfty said was on the refurbed a/c

Reading the above the 56J/40W/275Y is the new refurb a/c with a lower deck map of:

But that looks like old style 744.

Can someone clarify what the seating numbers are for the refurb?

The reason is that there is arow 4 on the refurb per the qantassource...

Re: QF7 - No Row 4?

OK thanks - so the qantassource wording is wrong then...

Re: QF7 - No Row 4?

The wording on the qantassource states:

Three Class 58J/36W/270Y aircraft are scheduled for the Sydney - Singapore - Frankfurt, Brisbane - Los Angeles and Brisbane - Singapore routes.
There are currently two Three Class 56J/40W/275Y aircraft. These have A380 style seating and is scheduled on the Brisbane - Los Angeles route.

Per the above it is the 56J that is A380 seats when in fact it is the 58J

Fair enough; then there's a typo in the Qantasource web site and it's wrong.

However, they do have the correct seat map as per the link above the image I posted.

Re: QF7 - No Row 4?

Hence my confusion - it was saying to look at the 56J but that i old school...

Anyway back OT :)
