Not happy to discover that on Qantas flights (where nuts are offered with a drink service in business class) they have now cost cut the cashews out of the packet.

new nut pack at QF - almonds or nothing.

Especially when compared to the bowl of snack mix supplied at Virgin...

This Virgin one includes cashews, macadamias and pretzels
(and at a much larger quantity than that supplied by Qantas).

This Virgin one was hot and spicy, served with their signature coughtail.

Thank god for that - now I won't have to rummage past the cashews for decent nuts.

Hopefully the drink size/packaging/quota won't be reduced as well... BYO ?? :D

Don't recall ever getting nuts on a DJ flight apart from SYD-PER on the A330. Do they offer these on any other services?

Interestingly, however, I was just offered (and ate) a bowl of nuts in the MEL QF J lounge, exactly like the DJ nuts.

Ah, competition...good for the consumer.

Hot Nuts seem to be part of the standard service on routes where there is a separate drinks run, prior to the meal service.

On shorter services the drinks run and meal run are combined, so there doesn't seem much point in getting nuts as you are getting food at the same time?

But as with all things at Virgin, just ask if you want something extra...

"Morish Nuts Premium Savoury Mix" - served in J from the Y menu

...and (if it's on the main cabin menu) it will be delivered.

Maybe Santos offerred QF a special deal on Almonds this month.

I'm very find of the warm nuts on AA F class :)

I also don't like macadamias. I find both too oily and wish we could go back to peanuts :(

There's cashews and then there's cashews. As with most things there's a difference between good nuts and bad nuts. The nuts need to be of some quality.

They also need not to be cashews ;)

I had a *lightbulb* moment and thought about editing my post to "you guys are nuts"... but too many people had posted in this thread.

drron, after 5.5yrs of interrupted sleep due to kidlets, Mrs Shelf read your post, bought a 1kg mixed bag of nuts and is currently heating them in the oven
