HI everyone, was looking through Qantas website (re: Qantas Club) and bumped into this:

Access for Jetstar passengers

Qantas Club members travelling with Jetstar are welcome in any Qantas Club or QantasLink lounge. Simply show your boarding slip and Qantas Club card, or Platinum or Gold Qantas Frequent Flyer card, at the lounge reception. You may also invite one guest who need not be travelling. If you are travelling without luggage you can check in for your Jetstar flight in most Qantas Club lounges. When you fly Jetstar, you won't be able to access partner, associated or oneworld airline lounges.

Is this rule new or what? WHen i got my QC Life membership i did it with the understanding that i would be able to use all Qantas lounges (inclusive of partner and associated ones) when flying jetstar to the respective destinations. According to this, i wont be able to use the lounge at Denpasar, and other associated lounges at Jetstar's prospective destinations. (from a previous thread i understand that we don't get to use the Sakura lounge at Osaka anyway coz it's in a different terminal).

I didn't think a Qantas Club card (whether 1-year or life) ever gave access to non-Qantas lounges (apart from the BA ones under the JSA)

I noticed this recently when I was contemplating using points for a 2 year QP membership for my wife. Whilst she is OK for the main QF routes via HK and SIN, there would have been issues with lounge access (at the Europe end) once JQ starts flying to places like Rome with the new 787's if we choose this in the future. I have WP so generally it is OK if I travel with her but could prove difficult if it is the entire family on JQ (JQ is a last resort mind you) and there are lounge dragons on duty.
I thought *class may have given some options, but alas no.

I seemed to also remember seeing something about partner or associated lounges billing back to the airline on the ticket (eg QF) and as a LCC, I couldn't imagine JQ wanting to wear this.

Access to Partner airline lounges

In addition to Qantas Club lounges, you can relax in British Airways lounges (Terraces and Executive Club lounges) and American Airlines® Admirals Club lounges.
To access a partner airline lounge, simply present your Qantas Club card or Platinum or Gold Frequent Flyer card at check-in and again with your boarding pass at the lounge reception. You may also invite a guest. Note: both you and your guest must be travelling together and have onward travel that day on a flight marketed and operated by the partner airline whose lounge you wish to visit.***
*** Marketed and operated means a flight operated by the same airline whose flight number appears on your ticket. Includes American Airlines® or British Airways operated flights with a 'QF' flight number on your ticket.

For clarity, it is worth stating that there has been no change in lounge access for Qantas Club members.

It has only ever been:
- Qantas Clubs when travelling QF (or subsidiaries) or BA.
- BA clubs when travelling BA or QF.
- AA clubs when travelling AA or QF.

So, for example, no access to Cathay Pacific lounges in HKG (unfortunately) and no access to the QF lounge in SYD if travelling on CX (which made me boycott CX until I got oneworld status).

Does the temporary lounge at TBIT qualify under these entry rules? I believe it is a shared lounge with BA and others, but probably does not qualify as either QF, BA or AA, is this correct? If so, that would mean no access for QC members, only for OWE or OWS.

Haven't been through TBIT since the temporary lounge opened - all my flights into and out of LAX have been through T4.

I seem to recall QF noting when the construction started that there would be no lounge at TBIT accessible to QC members, but I may be mistaken.

Hey everyone,

I thought I would bring up an older thread rather than create a new thread.

I have a Jetstar flight from Launceston to Melbourne and was wondering whether I could use QC membership to get into the Qantas Club there. The Qantas Lounge Locations page is a little bit confusing as first it lists Broome, Devonport, Coff's Harbour, Rockhamptom, Kalgoorlie, Karratha, Launceston, Mackay and Port Headland under the Qantas Regional Lounge* list and says:"*Qantas Regional Lounges are operated by, or on behalf of, other airlines in selected ports to which Qantas operates. Qantas Regional lounges may only be open to Qantas Club members two hours before Qantas departures. Domestic associated lounges have been re-branded “Qantas Regional Lounge”." This makes me think oh cough, I do not get access!

Then there's another list which specifies some of the previous link to be QantasLink or a 'true?' Regional Lounge:" Devonport - Regional Lounge; Kalgoorlie - QantasLink; Karratha - QantasLink; Launceston - Regional Lounge; Mackay QantasLink; Rockhamptom - QantasLink".

The only information I have found are that partner/associated lounges are not Jetstar accessible, but that usually refers only to international lounes; are there different rules for the Launceston and other domestic regional QPs?

Is there anyone that can help?!

From this reading of the rules on QF's website, you'll will have access to the Launceston QP when flying JQ:

Qantas Club members travelling with Jetstar* are welcome in any Qantas Club or QantasLink lounge.
Qantas Regional Lounges are basically an overall name all the lounges in Non-Capital ports, which includes lounges known as a QantasLink Lounge.

Launceston's is next to check-in and is open from 0530 to last departure.

Just returned from Singapore and I was unable to use the QC Business lounge even though I am a Gold - Jetstar Asia flights are not included in lounge access rights, unless you are WP, and even then you can be asked to move to the Business Lounge if First is crowded.

If you are flying Starclass JQ - you have access, anything else - forget it. :(

(Hmmm, why am I showing such loyalty to the Flying Kangaroo - 49% ownership in Jetstar? Choose to fly their subsidiary airline over the numerous others available in Asia, and still don't get the benefits.)

last time in flew out of LST it was with JQ on the late flight (i was a QP member at the time).
checked in online and showed my BP at the checkin desk - agt pressed a button to open the door.
Sat in the lounge for a bit, the QF link flight to MEL departed and I was left on my own.
I liked this lounge, all be it a small one so flying on JQ shouldnt be a problem for you :p.

Yep you'll have access flying Jetstar.

The LST lounge is great, has been refurbed and has a stack of King Island cheese and crackers and wine :)

That's a bit rich IMO. QC and SG should all have access to QC Lounges if travelling with Jetstar Asia. Yes, it does beg the question, why have such loyalty to QF and Jet* ????
Jetstar Asia would fall under the QF umbrella which includes; Qantas, QantasLink, Jetstar, and Jetstar Asia. Even when travelling Nationaljet for Qantas, you have access to Qantas Club.

Is Jetstar Asia the 3K brand?

WP's have anytime access to Qantas Clubs, regardless if flying or not.

3K and VF has always been excluded from lounge access simply because QF are not the majority holder, and they are not part of oneworld!

* Jetstar refers only to (JQ) flights. Qantas Club members and Gold Frequent Flyers travelling on Jetstar Asia (3K) and Valuair (VF) do not have access to lounges. Only Platinum Frequent Flyers can gain access to International Business lounges and Domestic Qantas Club Lounges when travelling on Jetstar Asia (3K) and Valuair (VF).

Absolutely correct! They *only* have a 49% stake in Jetstar Asia. But I still don't understand their reasoning - there are a hell of a lot of cheap airlines flying in Asia - thought I was being loyal to them by choosing to fly J*, but obviously that isn't being returned in like.

CX now fly direct BKK-SIN so guess who I now travel with now? ;) They offer me all the benefits of a lounge, decent food and much better experience. Pity - I travel to SIN about every 6 weeks with my PA - that amounts to a lot of $$$$ that J* and Qantas will no longer be getting, except for 4 flights to maintain my SC eligibility.

CX have been flying direct BKK-SIN for a long time, as did AY at one stage along with many other airlines, and while they may offer you lounge access I doubt you will get consistently cheap fares when compared to 3k, and theres the rub, you are paying for it. JQ travellers out of DRW on the SIN flights dont get lounge access either, because its not open at the time the flights depart.

QF does reward your loyalty and you would have lounge access if you were truly a frequent flyer in their eyes, that is a WP member.

I regard myself as FF, even though I've gone back to Gold. I made Platinum the hard way - flying discount Y class - so in reality I had to fly a hell of a lot more than say somebody who always flies J. (I needed to fly twice as much for the same amount of SC, if all my flights were on QF.)

I am a FF - just like anyone else who spends a hell of a lot of time flying. I missed out on OP last year as my flights throughout Asia didn't give me the same number of SCs that flying out of AU would on QF.

Qantas should recognise that some of their FF aren't all based in AU, and those that aren't, who are still loyally flying with their subsidiary airline over another OW carrier, should be rewarded. (After all we are still plowing $$$ into the Qantas coffers and keeping their shareholders happy!! ;)) I can't even get lounge access if I paid their full rate, which on today's exchange equates to $455.

For the same days on CX, it will cost me $340.00 - lounge access included along with meals and IFE.

Guess who I choose for all of my BKK-SIN flights - except for the 4 needed to maintain my status eligibility?

Last time I went to the QF Business lounge in SIN (before the First opened) - it was empty and they had nothing being served up, not even water. If the lounge is empty - what exactly is the harm allowing J* Gold members access?
